I am an atheist.
1. Abortion - I am pro choice.
2. Death penalty - abolition is the only choice. It is a primitive response and not effective in terms of preventing crime.
3. Genetic engineering - a cautiously qualified support in so far as it should be used only for the treatment of currently incurable medical conditions and not for the purposes of eugenics.
4. Stem cell research - yes, provided it adheres to the same guidelines as I articuled in three (above).

Christian
Though a christian the following opinions are my own regardless of what religion says.
Abortion: should not be performed unless there is a risk to the mother or/and the baby has a very high risk of be being handicap.. Maybe gross but I think it is selfish to get a child into the world KNOWING beforehand that it will be handicap and suffer through life.
Death Penalty: Some crimes deserve death penalty instead of being fed and allowed to pump iron and do aerobics in jail (on taxpayers' money) after killing someone's loved one! I disagree with therapy for murderers who plead insane or whatever instead of being punished for their crimes!
Genetic Engineering: Why not?! If we can find and develop new and improved ways of doing CERTAIN things then it's great. Science needs to develop..
Stem Cell Research: It is considered to be a key in curing many diseases, mostly genetic disorders such as heart diseases and even diabetes so I would not oppose it.

Atheist
Abortion: Morally wrong, Should be safe and legal, should not be used as recommended method of birth control.
Death Penalty: For, definitely morally correct
Stem Cell Research: There should be and appears that there are alternatives to gaining the stem cells. For the research, not hot on using humans in the earliest stages of development.
Genetic Engineering: We've been doing it since we started farming so why not continue? Not sure that we won't make a few disastrous mistakes, but then that's not new either.

I'm Jewish.
Abortion is wrong and should be outlawed although not as bad as taking the life of an already born child.
Death penalty is fine but the proof on the accused has to be beyond a reasonable doubt.
Genetic engineering and Stem cell research, go for it.
You forgot another hot button issue which is Gayness.

against abortion
against death penalty
not sure about genetic engineering I don't have enough knowledge about it to make an informed decision
support stem cell research (I don't believe women who have abortions do so to help stem cell research therefore the number of abortions wont increase because of it)

I belive that Abortions can be a good thing in certain situations
Im from Texas So Im definetly all for The Death penalty,, but I think we should up the anty on this issue, Not only should we put to death murders, But I think they should ammend the "3 strikes" law, Instead of giving a career criminal "Life in Prison" That winds up costing the tax payers, I think they should execute these losers...Oviously they cannot live in society, So why waste money "housing these losers?
Im neutural on Genetic enginering
I do think "stem cell reasearch" should should continue,, It has been shown that the possibility for curing many diseases may result, as well as a potential to "Grow" New hearts, kidneys , livers etc etc, for patients in need of these vital organs

I'm a Christian and am against abortion because it's killing a living human being. As for the death penalty, those who murder must face their own punishment. Today, people who commit crimes don't get jail or the electric chair, they get "therapy" when they had no cases of mental illness BEFORE the crime.
As for genetic engineering and stem cell research, human nature is precious. Let's try to keep it that way by not turning it to computers and mega science projects.

Christianity.
Abortion>The new slavery where we assign a segment of the human population as property to be dealt with at our discretion.
Death penalty>Needed for a just society to deter murderers and what should be child molesters.
Genetic engineering and stem cell research>Engaged passively with the respect for Gods creation and the indispensiblity of human life in mind.

Who cares what everyone's views are? These questions are to be answered by the person faced with such situations. Everyone else is just bleeding their own views into a pool that is already clouded. I am agnostic and I believe that decisions have been made on all these issues out of pure necessity. Weather it be political or not. That being said, who is wrong and who is right?
