The body is a material, empirically real thing. The soul and spirit are not, and are synonyms. The body decomposes or the ashes blow around. I am ready to face death; I accept my mortality and have for a long time, because I have nothing to fear, just biology. I am sure because I know biology.

Its the trinity and Its how we describe those three parts of ourselves that seem to be so apparent after smoking a joint.
I dont know if the body goes anywhere when we die, but I do believe the soul (also being the spirit) transends to another place, or passes on... (so to speak).
Am I ready? No, I dont believe I will ever be ready, even if I am 99 years old.
Assurance is a mind set that we can only decide to have. When the time comes im sure emotion will soon take over and then, the stages of grief. Denial, Anger, depression and finally exceptance.
Laaaate.. maybe when we pass away we will meet and speak about this conversation. hmmmmmm,
Isnt it a beautiful night? The world is big. Life is short and time is only a mind set.

Essentially the spirit and soul are the same, basically they are a translation difference or 2 words that mean similar things. At the best they can be considered to be different aspects of the same thing. Ultimately, the church "promoted" them as 2 different things in order to support "being created in God's image" and the concept of the Trinity which was also developed in order to explain the apparently polytheistic nature of God while maintaining a Monotheistic approach. Note: up until now I have just explained why these concepts exist and have not challenged their reality; in other words if I were still a christian, I would still say the same thing.
Now, as an atheist, I will tell you that there is no proof for a soul except perhaps at a sub-quark level and that's highly problematic at this point. Various holy books and religions will offer explainations of what happens after death but as there is no evidence that they are historially accurate it is highly doubtful that they are spiritually accurate.
So to answer your question, when we die, that is it - nothing more, nothing less.

Physical and meta-physical.
Biblically speaking, the body gets destroyed, and the spirit rests or wanders until judgment day when either our souls are redeemed, or destroyed.
I think the only people ready to face death are the ones that havent thought about it, or devalue their life. Death represents the great unknown and pure human nature is to fear that which we do not fully understand.
Am I afraid of death? Yes. But I have great assurance from God that if I believe in Jesus and do the things he taught in this life and teach others to do so, the pain of death in this life will pale in comparison to my reward. Think about this, would you allow your finger to be caught off and reattached if you could become a billionaire in process? WHERE DO I SIGN???
If we jump at such earthly offers, why do we hesitate when God offers something even far greater?

Jesus faced death for us. I died with Him. It is no longer I that lives but Christ that lives in me. I am not of this world so I have a body suit of flesh to live in. The soul runs the conciousness of the body, it directs it. My spirit was made to sit down with Christ at the right hand of the Father. Oh and by the way, the Holy Ghost was defused throughout my soul so this body is led by the Holy Spirit. People fall asleep in death now, Jesus conquered it.

Soul = 1 body + 1 spirit
Gen 2:7 And the LORD God formed man [of] the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
Ecc 12:7 Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.

The body is the temporary house that our soul and spirit lives in until eternity (our final home). Our body dies and returns to the dust from which it came. Our soul is the essence of who we are: Our personalities, our charachters, our emotions, etc. Our spirit goes to heaven or hell immediately when the body dies. Our spirit never dies and lives forever. Our body is resurrected and reunited with our spirit at a later time. For the christian, it will be reunited at the Rapture and our bodies are made perfect. For the unbeliever, their bodies will be resurrected and reunited with their spirit and willl go to the Great White Throne Judgment where they will hear The Lord say, "Depart from me, I never knew you" and they will be cast into the lake of eternal fire. I AM ready to meet My Lord, as I am assured thru His Word, of eternal life with Him forever in Heaven. God bless

I don't believe the second two exist since there is no real evidence, only abstract concepts.
Im quite ready for death, the same nothingness as before you are born.
