I have been asking a lot of questions about the Bible lately. Truly I am confused. I am coming to believe what Joesph Smith said was true that Bible is manipulated and tampered with. It would have been right if correctly translated. That is why there was a need for restoration.

Please post your views. I need to settle my mind.

You are right 100%. Read moroni's promise in the Book of Mormon. Moroni 10:3-5. Then pray about knowing, sincerely pray. Then you will know. That is what happened to me. It was the best experience ever!

Good luck!!

People like and including Joesph Smith are wrong in their thinking that the Bible is full of discrepancies because mankind is still giving the Bible a missinterpreted and miss translated religious meaning to scripture which God wrote in highly advanced scientific text that mankind hasn't yet learned how to decipher reading and translating right off the pages of the Bible. Everyone that is but , "Me".

It's a complicated subject, no doubt about it. And the assumptions are many after the criteria is in. But when the volumes of texts are in front of you, you still have the tougher questions to settle: Is what Jesus said true? Is what was reported about what Jesus said true?

And then if you happen to begin to trust God and receive the Holy Spirit, then you know that you are on the right track. When the Holy Spirit comes, He makes all other religions insignificant to desire. There are no other religions when that happens.

So I hope that you find out what you are trying to find out, but at the end of that road the decision still has to be made, will you trust God or not?

Most Scripture was conveyed for 10 to 1000 years in oral form, before being written. In many cases, written scripture was edited and modified over the years; passages coming from different communities were often combined together,. It was not dictated by God and transmitted to us verbatim by Biblical authors.

This does not mean that scripture is not valid. it often does reflect a person's or community's encounter with God, and is therefore holy. We have to try and understand out own encounter with God.

Scripture is also not linear text, usually. It is a very complex book full of poetry, metaphor and allegory. It can get us thinking about God, and, for Christians, Jesus.

The Bible has to be taken as a whole and also taken as from a loving Father. I am 56, have been loving Jesus since I was 3 and studying the Bible but when my 28 year old daughter graduated from college with a major in biblical studies and explained the culture of the time and the original Hebrew and so much more, you have to realize, if you pull the baking soda out of the cookies it doesn't taste good by itself, so we have to study the Bible in earnst and try to see what God is telling us.

There is no better place to go when you are confused then to Heavenly Father himself. He wants us to understand his gosple and his Word. He is there for us, but we must seek him out. Satan is clever in that he will try his absolute hardest to confuse us and muddy out mind. If we pray for answers with a true heart, we WILL receive answers from our Father. He will ALWAYS answer us and clear our understanding if we have FAITH. If you truely want answers, study the scriptures (ALL of them) and PRAY with an earnest heart. The doors of understanding will be opened and you will have a clarity of the Bible that will astound you.
We believe the Bible to be the Word of God, as far as it is translated correctly. We do the best with what we have...Heavenly Father and the living prophet will fill in the rest for us.

Not exactly sure what "restoration" means, but while I don't see any evidence for the Bible being valid, there is a lot that it has been accurately transcribed through out the years. What this means is that the Bible is probably fiction that has not changed through out the 3000 years of its existence.

Joseph Smith, however "borrowed" Masonic rituals as the basis of his ceremonies and the book of Mormon has even less archaeological proof than the bible.

Even if you're not Mormon, it would be ignorant of you to say the bible has not been incorrectly translated, re-written, or blatantly changed by priests with their own agenda.

I, after being taught for 3, nearly 4, years have come to finally know the truth of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and it was only after I truly prayed with a longing to know the truth for myself.

I prayed to God to give me an answer, I told him I would give myself up to Him and do anything He asks as long as He would give me an answer to whether the church is true or not. I opened the Book of Mormon and pointed to a verse without looking. I then read the verse and it was Mosiah 2:34 which talks about rendering all that you are and have to God.

I knew it was GREAT odds that I had just "happened" to point to a verse that talks about the exact thing I was just doing...I am being baptized this Tuesday.

I'm in the same boat. I'm confused as well because there are a lot of discrepancies in all these different types of Bibles.
