I've read many heart felt replies to similar questions stating that the bible is proof for itself i.e. that it prophecies and fulfills those prophecies. For now, I'll reserve judgement on that as it's a circular agrument.

But as the question states, why is there no evidence for a global flood, why the creation story is at odds to evolution, why Egypt has no record of th Hebrew people ever being there, and why the temple curtain was not recorded as being destroyed until 70 CE as opposed to around 30ish CE during the crucifixtion.

The point is, even though we need to take God's existence on faith, natural events leave evidence. Why, when we know so much have we not found a single peices of supporting evidence and massive amount of evidence against?

What kind of rational god preform a miracle of hiding evidence?

(ok, several questions, but the right answer should take care of them....)

Many religions have faith. It does not explain why easily observable and extraordinary events would not have left a "footprint".

I have research as much of the possible evidence that I can. Unfortunately, most Christian claims of support have proven to be, at best, misinterpetations.

Sorry, Islam is in a much more precarious position than Christianity, as archeologiaclly speaking, anything it refers to is newer than Christianity.

I'm not trying to "shoot down" answers here, I just want a reasonable explination.

Een christian archeologists admit that the evidence for the Exodus is at the best and most optimistic interpetation, less than scant.

I will admit locations as fairly acurate but think here, locations in James Bond are accurate also. There is NO evidence that the hebrew people as described by the exodus ever existed in egypt as slaves or otherwise. Exodus would have them resiing there for 200 to 400 years and having at least 2 prominent, official positions.

Fossils on top of mountains are dated to the times that those mountains were sea bottoms and do NOT match each other.

The point is, facts and evidences needs to be consistent and not based on pseudo understanding of science.

Let's re-read the web reference posted: in it Merenptah lists enemy conquests, but the most interesting reference is a very rare mention of Israel. It may be the oldest non biblical reference to that country" and the actual text of the Victory Stele: "Israel is wasted, bare of seed," Sorry it's a stretch to consider this the Exodus.

2007-09-14 19:27:30 · update #6

Let me say again, there is no evidence for a global flood, the fossils on mountain tops are dated to millions of years difference, the rock strata that they reside in is different and the mountains were formed at different times. If ths were to be considered evidence, the fossils would be of ceatures consistently dated to the same time period, the rock strata would be consistent and would contain a mixture of plant, land and sea life, potentially intermingled. Besides this, you do realize that there is simply not enough hydrogen on the earth to create that much water... not to mention the problems with the rainbow. I'd love to work with you on this, but graspng at straws will not pass as evidence.

As for hebrew scripture as a complete body there is only the occasional historic event that has been verified and recoreded locations. Please re-read the statement, the evidence for the EXODUS story is scant i.e. besides the Victory Stele, there is a mention of a people that *may* have become the Hebrew nation based on the egyptian name for them, however they were not slaves or by any stretch of imagination anything close to the people of the EXODUS.

Last comment for the night, the historical existence of Isreal is not in doubt, nor are it's various cities over time. What is in doubt is that various "events" ever happened as recorded in the Bible or as the question states if they occured why are they so hard to prove? It's as if anything that God did of an extraodinary nature is is also exraordinaly covered up.

I suppose a die-hard believer would tell you that the world, God's creation, is proof of his existence.

I, on the other hand, would like to have God do periodic 'State of the Universe' addresses on the evening news. Until that episode airs, I'm going to remain an agnostic.

For someone who desires evidence, you certainly don't give much yourself do you? You say "No evidence for a global flood", yet even you must admit that the tallest mountains were once flooded underneath the ocean, for sea shells have been found in them. As for Egypt, you are just plain wrong. The Hebrew scripture is the record that testifies to their existence in Egypt. Even Egyptian writings mention Israel, not my fault if you care to ignore them.

Re: The point is that you start off by saying that there is no evidence of a global flood, and then you finish by admitting that a global flood is possible. That's called inconsistency.
As for the Hebrew scriptures, please provide evidence to your claim that they are "less than scant". Because frankly you are embarrassing yourself with your lack of evidence.

You're walking on it.
No evidence of the flood? Where did all those fossils of sea animals come from on every mountain top?
Egypt has no records of the Jews? They weren't Jews to the Egyptians, they were slaves. And there is record of Mary and Joseph taking the baby Jesus into Egypt? Even the history channel has programs about it.
The temple curtain? Who was writing, for those first few years after the resurrection? Anybody we've heard about? I thought they were all hiding from Rome, while traveling by foot from town to town to minister. Those who were there and witnessed were busy. And how do you know for sure, when it was recorded?

Only in recent years, have archaeologists begun finding the cities spoken of in the bible. Cities that have never been recorded in any other history writing. Only the bible spoke of them.

Whose rationale would you like God to have? A mortal one? If God thought the way we do, He would have wiped us off the face of the earth centuries ago.

The fact is there is no logical point to the existence of this earth, nor the patterns of the universe. There is no logical point to black holes. There's nothing logical about the ocean staying where it belongs.

What is it that keeps this world going? Why are we here at all? If you use logic, we don't exist.

This question cannot be answered in a sentence or two. I kindly request to go to the following websites, and I asssure who ever has an open mind and humble heart will definitely appreciate it. Harunyahya.com (comprehensive website worth seeing) and also turntoislam.com. In this website, scroll down and click on evidence of Allah's (God's) existence. Make sure that the hatred some people might show towards Islam and ill practices of the Muslims should not hinder one from seeking the truth!!!!

Its only hidden to those who WANT it to be hidden.

Archeology unearths evidence that backs up the Bibles claims all the time. We just dont have school systems that want to invest in that type of education for fear of lawsuits from people like atheists. Anytime any school system offers something that remotely looks like scientific or historic evidence for the purposes of religion, it is automatically labeled as "Bible Thumping" and the ACLU sues the daylights out of these underfunded schools that cant afford any legal entanglements.

Jesus made the promise that if you seek God, he will be revealed to you NOT in some subjective sense, but in a very real way. The reason why God eludes you is because in your heart, you are eluding him first.

'Many Christians do no longer even understand the names of those persons and activities pronounced, through fact people who do understand of robust evidence that their place is incorrect, intentionally block and hide the sources of archives, and intentionally misinform human beings into believing that there has in no way been one in all these evidence, just to vainly swell their ranks. It generally comes as a great marvel to even elderly Christians to locate that they might have been lied by using individuals they depended directly to tell them the fact in any respect circumstances." I fastened the final paragraph for you, your welcome

He showed me that he is God and how. I was baptised by fire. The sons of God shall be salted with fire. This is what happend in short. Duriing a period in my life I was recieving sever spiritual warfare were the dead I will call them were comming aroud to pay me visits. Some of the things that I encounterd were Spirits, Spiritual Entitys, Demons, souls of men and women, a spiritual norse man, a young spiritual Indian, a Goblin, Devils, fallen Angels, spirits of witches, astro projection, souls of owls, the soul of a large bird like a condor. they enslave these souls of birds and use them for there magik to deliver spells or something. These were some of the things I encounterd.I will try to explain one of Jesus parables for you. He gatherd the wheat and put them in his barns but the weeds he gatherd and placed into bundles were at the end of the age these bundles will be thrown into the lake of fire, The bundles that are gatherd together are Hell, Hades, The abyss were fallen Angels are placed, death, place of burning sulpher and possibly more dungons then finally the lake of fire. If you think I have a wild imagination think again this is a true story. Some of the souls of people who came to me at night to show me there pain were judged, if it was by God I don't know but this is what I felt. The soul of the man who came to me at night had reaped what he sewd in life meaning the pains this man had caused people in his life were spiritualy gatherd and sewn into his soul were he will suffer all there pain for eternity. He was a very evil man. He also was from hell and had yellow sulpher mixed into his soul. He radiated with the pains of Hell like a coal pulled from the fire and placed nevt to your skin. The whole experiance was Horid and made me wryth in anguish. This is what being salted with fire means. The dambed pay you visits at night who let them out I dont know but they came from these different places and they radiated with the pains of the places they were let out from and were like coals pulled from the fire

Faith is a gift from God. Faith is what removes the blinders that you have on. Unless you have Faith in Jesus Christ, you will never see Truth. And satan will have succeeded in luring you from truth and from eternal Heaven with Our Lord! Pray for the gift of faith and your eyes will finally see all the evidence that you are missing now. God bless
