As a child.. I developed phobias quite easily. I've been struggling with a few lately, and I would like to know what would cause me to have so many phobias. They're pretty unrelated and my childhood was not very traumatic. I was diagnosed with some sort of juvenile on set schizophrenia.. I'm a bit shakey on the details..

It sounds to me like you have an anxiety disorder more than schizophrenia. If your phobias are distressing you, or if they are interfering with your ability to enjoy life, it's worth getting some help for this. Anxiety disorders are treatable with anti-depressants and counseling, and since you were diagnosed with a mental health condition when you were younger, I think it seems pretty wise to talk to someone now about your concerns. This isn't unusual or weird or anything -- many people experience the same thing you are going through. There are lots of options, so please make an appointment with your doctor soon to get started on feeling better. Good luck!

You are not schizophrenic if you are "shaky on the details" schizophrenia when you have it you know it. The development of phobias by some, like you, is easy. Here you suggest you have a phobia about phobias! A phobia is an irrational fear of something which like any fear is conquerable by facing it and finding out it is really not dangerous. They are usually about strange, unusual things the danger of which is magnified by a fertile imagination.

To conquer a fear of anything is just a matter of analyzing its real dangers if any, assessing if they can really harm you in any way and stop imagining how, in some strange manner they might, then facing them head on till you are used to the object or situation. (even ugly things like spiders can be recognized to be beautiful once you study them.)

Good luck, good metal health, peace and love!
