There is a lot to do in Waikiki. People watching is so much fun. There's the International Market Place to get some goodies to take home. Don't forget to bargain with the vendors. There's the Honolulu Zoo and Waikiki Aquarium. There's a lot of art galleries in the lobby of the hotels. You should start at one end of Waikiki to the other and just walk. There is a lot to see and do. Check out the Hilton Hawaiian Village. They have penguins in the back hanging out. Every Fridaynight they have a fireworks display. Good luck and have fun.

Waikiki is a great place to be without a car.
You can do anything from beach bumming, to shopping.
There is a open air market close by to shop for cheap trinkets, etc.
You can go to a nice zoo.
There is an aquarium close by too.
You can hike to the top of Diamondhead.
And you can eat at any thing from McDonald's to Bubba Gumps, to a 5 star restaurants.
Most hotels are only walking distance from the beach, so you don't need a car.
And if you have a full day to kill.
There is a bus line that go all the way around Oahu for cheep.
Have Fun.

Sit on the beach, eat in restaurants and buy macademia nuts & candy in the shops all over Waikiki. If you are not with your wife or gf, you can "people watch" (it used to be called "girl watching")-- I couldn't believe all the women walking up and down the street in bikinis. No robes, no t-shirts, just bikinis. You can also take a bus tour of Oahu and they might show you Magnum PI's house on tv. Ppl actually live there so the tour guide might tell you not to ring the door bell.
