Doctors refer to it as Oral Thrush. It's an overgrowth of a fungus called Candida. Google "white tongue?" Click on "Is your tongue white?" on the top right. Good luck. There's So MUCH INFO THERE. :)

It's sometimes caused by a yeast infection. This can occur when you have been taking antibiotics. The antibiotics will kill off the bacteria leaving the yeast to proliferate. This is what is known as an opportunistic infection secondary to antibiotic use. You would have to see a doctor for a correct diagnosis if you think this could be the case. Otherwise you may just have a buildup of gunk on your tongue much like plaque on your teeth if you don't brush them. brushing your tongue with a tooth brush will remove that white stuff, and help make your breath smell better as well.
