John 1:1 - The JW's say that Jesus is "a" god.
If Jesus is "a" god, then isn't that polytheism?
If Jesus is "a" god, then how many gods are there in JW theology?
If Jesus is "a" god, then is he a true God or false god, since the Bible says there is only one God (Isaiah 43:10; 44:6,8)?
If Jesus is "a" god, then why does he tell people to come to him and not the Father (Matt. 11:28)?

Jesus is God himself - Deity of Christ

As we turn the pages of the Bible we are convinced undoubtedly with the deity of Christ. He is the God who came in the form of a man as son of Mary, in the reign of Augusts Caesar the Roman Emperor. Thus, the Bible speaks about it.

Jesus is our Saviour

"She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins." - Mat.1:21

Every human being needs a saviour and God offers only Jesus for the remission of sins and for eternal life (Jn.3:16). Jesus took the sins of the whole world on His body to satisfy the justice of God, lavish the love of God and made himself a sacrifice of atonement by shedding His Blood, which contains eternal life on the cross. God made Him (Jesus) who new no sin to be sin for us so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God (2Cor.5:21). Thus, through His sacrificial death and resurrection, salvation and eternal life is available freely to all who believe and acknowledge this truth (Rom.10:9 / Eph.2:8).

He is the Lord & Messiah (Christ)

"Today in the town of David a saviour has been born to you; He is Messiah the Lord." - Lk.2:11

The word Messiah means the Anointed one. His office is to preach the gospel, to comfort the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives, to release the prisoners from darkness, to proclaim to those who mourn that the year of the Lord's favour has come and with it, the day of God's anger against their enemies. He will give beauty for ashes, joy instead of mourning, praise instead of despair to all who mourn (Isa.61:1-4). The Israelites awaited the arrival of the Messiah, their Saviour from heaven (Jn.4:25). This has been fulfilled through Jesus (Lk.4:21). This Messiah is Jesus (Jn4:26).

He is the Judge

"For the Father judges no one, but has committed all judgment to the Son..." - Jn.5:22

A day will come when all mankind has to stand before the judgment seat of God. God the father has appointed Jesus as the judge of all and given Him all authority to judge (Acts,17:31). The is no condemnation for those who believe only in Him and and live on His word (Rom.8:1). Every act of man will be judged by God's impartial justice which is revealed in the scripture(1 Pet.1:17).
Are you ready? The Judge is coming!

Jesus’ words in John 10:30, “I and the Father are one.” At first glance, this might not seem to be a claim to be God. However, look at the Jews’ reaction to His statement, “We are not stoning you for any of these, replied the Jews, but for blasphemy, because you, a mere man, claim to be God” (John 10:33). The Jews understood Jesus’ statement to be a claim to be God. In the following verses, Jesus never corrects the Jews by saying, “I did not claim to be God.” That indicates Jesus was truly saying He was God by declaring, “I and the Father are one” (John 10:30). John 1:1 says that “the Word was God.” John 1:14 says that “the Word became flesh.” This clearly indicates that Jesus is God in the flesh. Acts 20:28 tells us, "...Be shepherds of the church of God, which He bought with His own blood." Who bought the church with His own blood? Jesus Christ. Acts 20:28 declares that God purchased the church with His own blood. Therefore, Jesus is God! The most important reason that Jesus has to be God is that if He is not God, His death would not have been sufficient to pay the penalty for the sins of the whole world (1 John 2:2). Only God could pay such an infinite penalty. Only God could take on the sins of the world (2 Corinthians 5:21), die, and be resurrected - proving His victory over sin and death.

Psalms 82:1-6 calls Angels and Judges "gods".

When Jesus said he is the "First and the Last" he always stated he was dead and now alive again - That means he was the first to be raised as a immortal spirit, and last to be raised by Jehovah God personally. This is also why Jehovah gave his son the Keys to Hades.

=Alpha and the Omega=

Jehovah God called the spiritual conquerors the Sons of the Alpha and the Omega (Revelation 21:7) But Jesus called them his brothers (Hebrews 2:11).

If he was the Alpha and the Omega, Jesus would have called him his Sons, not his brothers.

=Creator=

Proverbs 8 states that Jesus is the Master worker, and 1Corinthians 8:6 says all things were made through Jesus. So the fact is those scriptures should have been translated through, not by.

=Mighty God=
Jesus was called a Mighty God, but that does not make him God Almighty. He was given that title because of his position over the people... And a example of that is found in Exodus 4:16, when Moses was going to serve as a "God" (uppercase) to people.

Jesus is not the Almighty God.

‘But isn’t Jesus called a god in the Bible?’ someone may ask. This is true. Yet Satan is also called a god. (2 Corinthians 4:4) At John 1:1, which refers to Jesus as “the Word,” some Bible translations say: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” But notice, verse 2 says that the Word was “in the beginning with God.” And while men have seen Jesus, verse 18 says that “no man hath seen God at any time.” (Authorized or King James Version) So we find that some translations of verse 1 give the correct idea of the original language when they read: “The Word was with God, and the Word was divine,” or was “a god,” that is, the Word was a powerful godlike one. (An American Translation) Clearly, Jesus is not Almighty God. In fact, Jesus spoke of his Father as “my God” and as “the only true God.”

Did Jesus ever say that he was God? No, he never did. Rather, in the Bible he is called “God’s Son.” And he said: “The Father is greater than I am.” Also, Jesus explained that there were some things that neither he nor the angels knew but that only God knew. (Mark 13:32) Further, on one occasion Jesus prayed to God, saying: “Let, not my will, but yours take place.” (Luke 22:42) If Jesus were the Almighty God, he would not have prayed to himself, would he? In fact, following Jesus’ death, the Scripture says: “This Jesus God resurrected.” (Acts 2:32) Thus the Almighty God and Jesus are clearly two separate persons. Even after his death and resurrection and ascension to heaven, Jesus was still not equal to his Father.

John 4:24, says that God is a Spirit.
Colossians 1:15, says that Jesus is "the image of the
invisibe God".
Colossians 2:9, says concerning Christ, "For in him
dwelleth ALL THE FULNESS of the Godhead BODILY".

It appears the reason God made man in "our" image, after
"our" likeness, is that He made us a two-fold being, as is He;
a body and spirit, thus "our".

According toStrong's Exhaustive Hebrew Concordance ,
Genesis 1:26's, "image" is #6754 and means phantom or
illusion, while "likeness" is #1823 and means shape or
model.

Romans 1:20, says that we can "clearly see" His eternal
power and GODHEAD, being understood by the things
that He created. He made us in His image and after
His likeness; we have an inward-man & an outward-man.

You're reading from a corrupt bible (The New World Translation) made by the Jehovah's Witnesses. The Jehovah's Witnesses are a Satanic organization, based upon the occult of Freemasonry. Charles Taze Russell was a 33rd Degree Freemason; as was Joseph Smith, founder of the Mormon cult. Westcott and Hort were also members of the Satanic Hermes Club and members of famed Russian witch Madam Blavatsky's Theosophy cult.

of the Jehovah's Fasles Witnesses is buried. Notice the Masonic pyramid.

Westcott and Hort took two waste Catholic Sources (the Sinaiticus and the Vaticanus) to produce their waste version of the Bible, Nestle and the New World Translation of the Jehovah's Witnesses, written by Senior Jesuits Jose Maria Bover and A. Merkz, followed Westcott and Hort.

From the Forward of the 1950 version NWT:

"The original writings of the Christian Greek Scriptures, commonly called the New Testament, were inspired. No translation of these Sacred writings into another language, is inspired... The Greek text that we have used as a basis of our NW translation is the widely accepted Westcott and Hort text (1881) by reason of its admitted excellence. In his book The Watchtower & the Masons Fritz Springmeier says:

"It has always been disconcerting that the Masons are so adept at smokescreens. The leader of the Anti-Masonic political party in the 1830-1840’s turned out to be a Mason. Both C.T. Russell and J. Rutherford printed material that was less than favorable to Freemasonry. And yet I now know that C.T. Russell was a Freemason, a Knights Templar. I also know that Rutherford worked intimately with Freemasons who were his good friends."

As our society rapidly approaches the end- time events of the book of Revelation, Satan and his evil forces are doing everything within their power to deceive humanity and to condition men to worship an individual known as "the beast" or "the Antichrist" (Rev. 13:1-18). Satan has always had a desire to be worshipped as God (Isa. 14:12; Luke 4:7), and he will be worshipped as God in the coming Tribulation (II Thes. 2:3-4). In order to bring this about, Satan realizes that he must first DETHRONE the true God in the hearts and minds of people. That is, he must attack the Deity of Jesus Christ.
This attack on the Lord Jesus Christ is being executed in many ways by many different groups.

Despite the bible referencing many gods (1Cr 8:5,6), Jehovah is the only God that is worshiped which makes him true.

Ex. 34:14 "for thou shalt worship no other god: for Jehovah, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God"

New Topic: WTS polytheism?

The fact is that John 1:1 clearly refers to two separate entities, since the point of the verse is to show that the Word was with God; the honest translators are obligated to impart to the reader the distinction that exists in the Greek language. The NWT has done that.

But, rather than disputing over minute articles of the alphabet (a god), truth seekers would do well to reason upon John 1:18, which says in the New American Standard: "No one has seen God at any time; the only begotten God who is in the bosom of the Father, He has explained Him." Jesus is not a competing false god like the gods of the nations. Jesus is a god who is in complete harmony with Jehovah.

According to John 1:18, Jesus is a god by virtue of the fact that Jehovah God, the Father, begot him, or fathered him. After all, isn't that what a father does? The fact that no one on earth has ever seen God rules out Jesus being God since Jesus was obviously seen by men.

It is noteworthy that for all the hand-waving and Bible-thumbing dogmatism of Trinitarians, Jesus never once claimed to be God—not once. Instead, he always said that he was God's Son. And John 1:1 agrees with all Scripture; that Jesus has been with God since the beginning—his beginning that is—the beginning of creation.

I agree with tebone0315.

It appears to me that by your question....
you know the answer that Jesus is GOD!

In the Old Testament, Daniel Chapter 7;
God is referred to as the "Ancient of days" with a description;
and in the book of Revelation the same description is given to Jesus Christ.

Also, Jesus Christ told the Pharisees before Abraham was
"I AM" as in God's name told to Moses the "I AM THAT I AM"

Also, 1 Timothy 3:16 tells us:
16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness:
God was manifest in the flesh,
justified in the Spirit,
seen of angels,
preached unto the Gentiles,
believed on in the world,
received up into glory.

Notice the phrase "God was manifest in the flesh".

Yes!
Jesus Christ is most definitely God who came in the form of a man and died on the Cross as the perfect sacrifice,
blood offering for our sin.

After all that as proof of who He is,
Jesus Christ arose from the dead on the third day and
now sits on the right hand of our Heavenly Father,
praying for us.

Chapter 4 of 1 Timothy starts with this warning:
Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;

I believe this is speaking of JW's, Mormons, Muslims, the Eastern religions, pagan religions and newly created cults.

The Apostle Paul wrote to Timothy that the Holy Spirit is warning that in latter times their will be seducing spirits and doctrines of devils.
This is definitely talking about JW's as well as many other false religions.

Actually, older translations of the bible, state pretty clearly that yahweh is only one of a pantheon, by use of the word Elohim.

This word is plural, and when translated by any group, other than christian or hebrew, means brethern or pantheon. This is who the 'us' in "let us make god in our image" is. The word has been removed from most of the newer translations/printings of the bible, however, the bible I own (printed in 1951) uses it 3 different times in Genesis. It is a plural word.

The christian and hebrew tradition is that god is so great that he can only be described as plural. This can easily be disputed by the fact that Christ cries out "Eloi, Eloi..." (the singular form) on the cross.

The concept of the truine god (father, son, holy spirit as one entity) is the twisting of a polytheistic concept as well. By claiming that they have a 3-in-1 god, the conversion of pagan people was made easier.
