I'm sorry, but huh? Been in S Korea for almost two years now, and at this moment I could kill for an American Restaurant, any type. But if you mean health wise, it's cause we use more grease, and tend to deep-fry, fry, or microwave everything.

If the worst food that you've ever eaten is American food, then you have had a very sheltered life. There is really awful, ghastly food out there and it comes from countries other than the US. I won't name the countries bc I am sure that ppl from those countries are used to eating that food and wouldn't understand why I think their food is ghastly. Americans, especially in the big cities, are probably the most adventurous ppl when it comes to eating different kinds of foods from all over the world. We eat Italian, Chinese, Mexican, Japanese, Argentine, German, Korean, Spanish, Portugese, etc. foods. Many foreigners are really narrow minded and will eat only their own kind of food. Even after they have moved to the US. We have the best steaks, seafood, breads, vegetables, fruits and ppl all over the world buy our foods. If you have eaten the awful shoe leather beef in other countries, you'll know what I mean.

It is not just bad but terrible..........
Majority of the people do not take 'cuisine' food but
your everyday meals.... and what is in it ? Well! The waist tells all.
In other parts of the world... they do have these problems but of a much controlled degree. And their varieties are so much more than the western type. They don't need 'cuisine' ,as their normal everyday food have many varieties.Light and healthy but also at times heavy n greasy.
So who is the winner?

Like anywhere in the world, you have to do a little research on a restaurant before you eat there. Do they use the cheapest ingredients, worst quality bread products, mass produced crap full of chemicals and processing? Or do they use organic local ingredients and bake their own bread? You can find both in any city or town in America, just like anywhere. If you're talking about fast food, well yuck, and that's available worldwide now, not just in America. Smart people research what they eat and don't just go on blind faith that it will automatically be good, anywhere. You are what you eat, it pays to take the time to make sure you eat well.

If by American food you mean FAST food [ MickDs, kfc blah blah ] you are right.
Totally American food - what is it ? The old melting pot at work here, more than most other countries. All you need to do is be a little selective in where/what you eat...and be glad that we have as big a choice as we do.

I total agree, must be everyone is in a hurry for the fast buck,..I've eaten in several countrys and nothing in the U.S. compares...Colombia South America is a real heaven for great food...and service..very inexpensive..makes my mouth water thinking about it....I was at a resturaunt a few years ago in Port Townsend, WA and when we had finished our terrible meal the next people in line were brought over and stood by our table so we would leave....can you believe that.. in Colombia they would of been shot...

What is American is unique and personal to different Americans. The hamburger is German, etc. Fast food comes from the US, but we are more than McDonalds.
