Ok, this was back in July, i said "tampons" when a little 2nd cousin was searching for coins in some saw dust (it was a family reunion type thing, and he's i'd say 6 or so).

Anyways, my relatives basically freaked. Did i do something wrong? He wasn't paying any attention to what we were saying.

Oh for heavens sake. Of course not. If you were talking about sex that is one thing. I had sisters and so I knew more about tampons by six years old then some guys learn in a lifetime. (They are super fun to play with in the sink by the way, ha ha). The reason get weird ideas about sex, bodies, and the opposite gender is that people treat it as if it is abnormal or dirty. So no, there is no reason to not say 'tampons' around a six year old.

No honey, you didn't say anything wrong! Youre relatives on the other hand need to chill out!

"Tampons" is just a word and means about as much to a youngster as "escrow" or "transubstantiation"--but you might want to explain to your relatives that their reactions to a word can cause a child to respond to any idea as though it were "naughty" or "unclean", which is really unfortunate for the child because it will stand in the way of future learning skills if they habitually react like this every time someone says anything in referrence to a human body or bodily part.

Children should be taught about the human body in terms that are appropriate for their age and what they can understand. Tampon is no more a dirty word than toilet paper. And like others have said, there's 34030304 tampon commercials on Tv, not to mention douche commercials, yeast treatment commercials, vaginal odour products etc ad nauseam.

It's not like tampons are under the counter items. They are out on display in any supermarket or chemist. You did nothing wrong, your relatives sound really anal, don't worry about it.

first - kids listen to everything going on around them. second - you said nothing wrong. third - the freak out was probably because some other adult (the parents of the 6 year old) would have to respond, later, to the inquiries of said 6 year old. and... they are not comfortable with that.

It isn't exactly wrong it's just frowned upon on by some people, mostly closed-minded people ( no offense to your relatives ). but I don't see anything wrong about it, even less if he wasn't paying attention to what you said

I do desire organic breasts, yet i do no longer look down on women people who get advancements in the event that they are needed and if executed to look extra on the organic part (choose a good scientific expert, and so on). If somebody has diverse sized breasts, ailment (breast cancer), breasts sagging from being pregnant (a breast elevate can do the trick, yet countless women human beings gets an augmentation besides through fact the breast elevate technique generally takes the breast down a cup...), and so on and so on. I do look down on women people who attempt to look as though Barbie dolls or "fit in" with the team (like in Cali, and so on) and get massive, gruesome breast implants that look so unnatural!! No reason for that for the time of any respect i think of. as a exchange of spending hundreds of greenbacks on the technique possibly women human beings like that could desire to apply that powerful money for self-well worth/self-worth counseling! i wouldn't in any respect do something like that purely to in nice condition in or be better, hell if somebody does not like my breasts for what they are, they might take a hike!

Personally I don't have a problem with it. I guess people are uncomfortable because it's connected (loosely) with reproduction.

Was it wrong? No but it could it have been embarrassing or awkward if he'd heard you and asked "What's a tampon?" Maybe. What answer would you have given him if he had asked?
