I'm refurbishing this really great old metal cabinet. The door lock is gone, leaving in its place a nice large hold which is about 3/4" in diameter. I don't really need a lock, and the thing stays shut decently well. Is there some way to fill this hole then use a regular door pull on it, or is there a SUPER WIDE shank drawer pull that would work?

Buy a replacement lock for it at a home center or find a drawer pull knob that covers the hole and use a large washer with a small hole to grab the screw on the backside---they're called "fender washers" ---- hardware stores or home centers carry them.

Look in the cabinet hardware section of your nearest box store, they cary a wide variety of fixtures that may be large enough to cover the hole and still be functional, and can easily be adjusted for thickness with a longer screw.
