He has already cheated on me. We are trying to work things out, but they keep chating with each other. I tried to explain to him that talking to her could lead to other things since they use to date.

you can't make someone do anything - if he's going to cheat again there is absolutely nothing you can do to prevent it, no matter what you insist he do or don't do. that is all on him and his sense of honor. if he truly values your relationship, he'll do what he can to make it strong. if he doesn't, then maybe his actions speak louder than his words.

You cannot change him. You've already told him once. Once, twice is enough anymore than that he is not mature enough for a long term relationship. He already cheated on you. This is a big sign of further things that you will have to put up with. I think you are not the one for him. Think how he is thinking and see how this makes you feel. If you want him for life then just put up with it. I think climberguy is wrong. Talking to an ex is not ok. It means he hasn't let go and moved on. You need a fresh start in a new relationship otherwise you will have a third person in the relationship.

If he has already cheated on you and yet he still doesn't care that he is making you uncomfortable, then it seems like he would be disrespectful enough to cheat again. If he really cared he would be working to gain your trust back, not to lose your trust completely. I definitely think you will be better off without him. There are plenty of loyal guys out there who will want to make you happy. He obviously isn't one of them.

Either you or the other girl, he needs to choose. If he respects you he will stop talking to her and explain to her that he cares for you and is going to respect your wishes.

first of all, how crazy are you to not let your boyfriend talk to people? controlling girlfriends or boyfriends are not good at all. it was very wrong of him to cheat on you, that is very true, but there is nothing wrong with talking. just get it through your head. cheating is wrong, talking isnt.

You don't. If he respects you and your feelings enough, he would stop talking to her on his own. It doesn't sound like he learned his lesson. I would dump him, there are plenty of guys who will treat you right and not do that.
