It's a mystery to me too. I guess when enough people believe in it enough to invest their time, talent and money into it and build a building and call it a church (or temple or whatever) Look back and see how the Church of Scientology got started...or the Jehovah Witnesses..etc. I think usually somebody has an "epiphany" and some others believe it. But then, don't each of us have our own personal religion? Even if we belong to a certain religion/church...there are always some things we believe different than that religion/church. (I'm just guessing at all this...like everybody else.) Like priests always say about something they don't know the answer to.."It's a mystery."

At what point does superstitious nonsense turn into science.
Chaos theory.
A butterfly flapping it's wings made all the recent hurricanes happen.
It's a postulate.
And Chaos theory is as legitimate as Evolution, Big Bang and Relativity.
I didn't make this up, SCIENTISTS DID!

When it becomes enshrined in ritualistic practice. However, this will only hold true if the "superstitious nonsense" is based on some subjective, existential truth or "religious experience", however tenuous. (This is a well documented sociological process, btw).
Peace to you.

When you hang it on the wall and think if you take it down you will go to hell.
When you hang it on the wall and think it can hear you.
