Santa Claus?
If 90% the entire adult world refused to abandon their belief in Santa Claus and further DEIFIED him, if they insisted on building shrines to worship the jolly old fat man, created groups and lobbied the govt to grant them tax-free status, if they insisted that money be printed with "In Santa We Trust", and you if had to accept "one nation, under Santa, indivisible with liberty..." as part of the pledge, if they made people swear on a wrapped toy in court, and if they tried to tell women they couldn't get abortions because Santa said it was wrong, if they wanted to teach children in school how Santa created the universe in six days around 6000 years ago, would it not be incumbent on atheists to rescue the world from this insane delusion.
So why is it different because their imaginary character is named God instead of Santa?

Printninja, this is such a fantastic question, I am speechless with admiration for you. I don't believe in Santa or god, but I do believe in you!
The Fundies will come up with some half-a**ed bs response for this one, but anyone with a modicum of intelligence will be able to see through the anticipated "god is real and Santa isn't" argument to be able to see that in your wonderful argument, in truth, there is NO DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE TWO! in other words, people say Santa is real, other people say god is real, who is to say what is real and how come it is OK to put one on our money but not the other? Why is the imposition of one made-up creature on our money and our social fabric OK but the other isn't? SAYS WHO? CHRISTIANS? WHY NOT SANTA WORSHIPERS?
Ah, I am so glad you are on our team. May I kiss the hem of your cloak?
Blessings!!!!!!

you convinced me there. I'll pack my crossbow and go look for some good dog. We are hunting the fat red bastrdh all the way to the pole.
Jokes apart, the difference is that santa gives you gifts every christmas, and this excuses him of a lot of things.
The other difference is that apparently everybody is sure that santa is "da way", while in our world there are, like, two thousand different gods. At least the santa one is a coherent and widely shared delusion.
I just can't stop thinking about an eventual war between followers of different septs of santanism
"his reinders are eight I tell you! The ascension of Rudolph the reinder is a lie!"

there is not any requirement for an atheist to have self belief something especially on that undertaking (different than that no deities have been in touch). Atheism specifically regards the subject of deities and despite if or no longer there are any. it quite is all. one ought to have self belief that human beings have been genetically engineered by using a race of alien robotic jellyfish as a great useful humorous tale, and might nevertheless be an atheist as long as they believed there have been no deities. That stated, my own view (as an atheist) is that human beings more desirable from before ape ancestors that have been no longer human, which in turn more desirable from different organisms, etc back approximately 3.8 billion years to the 1st existence varieties in the international, that have been particularly undemanding and arose for sure from nonliving chemistry. so a methods as i understand, maximum atheists share this view. it is likewise the scientifically conventional variety.

In the beginning God created the Heavens and Earth,..Period!............It does not say when he created the Heavens and Earth,.....well other then the beginning,...Do you know when the beginning was?,..probably not!
Don't let a 6000 yr old tall tale get in the way of the simplicity and Love of Christ.
Yes their are many that are desolate of rational truths in Christianity..........but don't let people of today's translation vear you from the truth,....these are only technicalities that won't be used against them because of there ignorance.
It is the simple message of Love and Redemption that we can all share in. Do you love people,.....then you do have a heart that can be used..................You and others and my self for many yrs have be swayed by false religion.
The word of God says let every Man be LIAR and let the word of GOD be truth,.....he said these words because he new man's vein heart would try to add or take away from the truth,....and in doing this it would falsify the truth in part,...''it say's they will have there reward''...... and it won't be good.
Remember the simple love and redemption of Christ.
Peace

I get where you are coming from but then we would be no different than proselytising christians who don't respect others' belief/non belief. Just be thankful that Christian America, Australia or Europe/UK doesn't have the same power as religious leaders in the Middle East, then it would really be a scary world.

print ninja, you still have not answered my question. in our email discussion, you hadn't responded to my email about the outside universe energy source. No matter how many variables you add in, it still will equate that the universe was created. I brought up law of thermodynamics, then you brought up singularity. I brought up that singularity would equate to homeostasis, and then you said we either didnt understand/or we had an outside energy source. If you read the email message I sent you yesterday, it would explain why I can say that the universe was created.

No different, you and I are of the same mindset... I'm beginning to think we're on our way to becoming an Iraq/Iran style theocracy, and that scares the crap out of me. I think the gods have to go, all of them. I don't want any of them to remain because which ever one is believed in most becomes the one the scamsters will use to cause the mess we're in now.
