I live in the Los Angeles, CA area. I make $15 an hour as a subcontractor, less than 30 hours per week. That means I pay my own taxes.
There are a lot of jobs that pay $10 per our here (boo)
and a lot of people try to dodge out on paying less than
40 hours per week to avoid paying benefits.

I'm in my 40's, retired, financially set, have a rather large life insurance policy, fairly large net worth and I am enjoying my life. This answer depends on lots of things like how old you are, what level of education you have gotten to, are you in a position for advancement, do you have health benefits, a retirement program such as a 401K, life insurance, and many other impt. questions. This is fine for a teenager who is going to high school and working a part-time job, but it certainly isn't an amount you should be estastic over and just remain happy with, especially if you don't have a college degree yet. Many people can't live on that amount of money, especially if they have a family or bills of any kind. I know that I couldn't live on this amount of money. Incidentally, in response to the question you asked: when I was working, it was part-time, temporary positions -- so I worked when I wanted to, and yes, I made more than this and had health insurance coverage as well. And I'm a woman!

You make more! It all depends on where you live. I live in Alabama and cost of living is less here so $16 would be pretty good but it is not too much more than I make and I do not have a college degree and have been with my company only 1 year.

That depends on how you look at it. I make about $8 a day, but have 400,000k in life insurance, live in a $4000 a month condo, have 30 days each year paid vacation, my meals are prepared and delivered, and medical and educational expenses are paid for and have two personal drivers. So do I make more or less than you, that's in the eyes of the beholder

Congratulations - you make almost twice as much as I do! I'd be pretty happy if I was you. I hope you like your job, too!

I make more. Not a whole lot more, but considerably more. You should ask for a raise.
