I got rid of all my "best friends" because they really weren't friends at all... Anyone who comes over to offer you dope and drink and hoping you'll drive them to get more, is not a friend. No matter how nice they are... After they were all gone, I prayed and prayed for the Lord to restore to me my life. Relationships that were worthy of my love and attention. Faithful as always, he did. Now, the people in my life are something else. Kind. Genuine. Honest. Caring. People I would have never thought I would know. I never deserved to know them before because I had nothing to offer. I was a complete turd and I got what I was. As for mate? No mate. He had to go by the wayside after 7 years of the same old BS that never changed. In fact, it only got worse. If you can't list 2 reasons for staying with a mate, leave.

1. I made a sacred covenant with her and with God that I would be with her throughout eternity.
2. If I were to leave her, why would any other woman want to be with me when I obviously can't be trusted to keep my word?
3. After being with my wife for 34 years, why would I want to try to break in another mate?
4. She is my best friend. She knows me better than anyone else.
5. I love her with all my soul.

I agree. But I also would like to add that he reached across party lines and worked hard at blurring the blue and red states. And that although, some people could not look past his color... President Elect Obama did not run as a "black" president. He ran as the President for Change. I believe that this reason among many was why President Elect Barack Obama won the election by such a large amount.

A friend will help you move a couch - a mate will help you move a body.

Why would I stay with my mate?
1. He'd do anything for me as long as it wasn't sexual.
2. He understands me and accepts me unconditionally.
3. More often than allowing for coincidence if I think of him (to tell him something or whatever) he'll ring me (but he didn't then LOL).
4. He has a mercurial mind and he's the ultimate optimist.
5. He makes me laugh ... especially at myself.

1. I love him. He is wonderful to me. He's patient and kind and sweet and gives me flowers and chocolates and encouragement. He LOVES me!

2. He is an amazing father. We have two children who absolutely adore him. I can't imagine trying to tell them "sorry you won't get to see Daddy anymore". The world would come to an end.

3. We made covenants. We stood in a church in front of 300 of our closest friends and family and a clergy member and promised to love each other and care for each other and live together for the rest of our lives. (And then we made the same promises for eternity, but that's another question!) And since we believe that covenants are sacred....

4. We are a great team. We are starting a Practical nurse program together. We are each other's study buddy and what I don't get he does and vice-versa. Where I'm weak, he's strong...and where he's weak I'm strong. We compliment each other and lift each other.

5. We are just too darned poor to divorce.
