and made me kind of ticked off. I did not make them look stupid or embarass them in anyway. What is the deal? How long am I allowed to stay angry and not break "man law".

this proves that ppl can play pranks on others and not others on themselves.

i have no idea wht man law is but if the prankster did a prank to u and u did one back that does not mean he should have ratted u out unless your was a lot crueler hen his or her prank if it wasnt then that person is most likely to do that everyone but if that person only did it to you then you should just ignore that person and jut dont pay attention to them but you shouldn't stay mad for a very long time and also it does not really matter if he told the boss because the boss had nothing to do with anything and also maybe this prank was jut to teach you a lesson im not sure though

I would take it as a lesson learned: Don't have anything to do with workplace jokes. Or politics or gossip for that matter. Go to work, do your job, then come home and live your life. It also sounds like you found out in a very unpleasant way that some of your coworkers are not your friends. All the more reason to keep your work life and your "real" life separate.

If this didn't teach you a good lesson, you are hopeless. Don't get involved with pranks or revenge in the workplace.

Holding a grudge will cause you even more problems if you actually need that salary you get from the company. You are acting like an adolescent.
