PDF : Portable Document Format

The Portable Document Format (PDF) is the file format created by Adobe Systems in 1993 for document exchange. PDF is used for representing two-dimensional documents in a device-independent and display resolution-independent fixed-layout document format. Each PDF file encapsulates a complete description of a 2-D document (and, with Acrobat 3-D, embedded 3-D documents) that includes the text, fonts, images, and 2-D vector graphics that compose the document.

PDF stands for Portable Document Format. They're a pretty common file format used for sharing and viewing documents online. There are several software programs out there that can be used to publish PDF's. Check the Adobe web site for more information at http://www.adobe.com/

Short for Portable Document Format, a file format developed by Adobe Systems. PDF captures formatting information from a variety of desktop publishing applications, making it possible to send formatted documents and have them appear on the recipient's monitor or printer as they were intended. To view a file in PDF format, you need Adobe Reader, a free application distributed by Adobe Systems.

PDF is portable document format. The format 'belongs' to Adobe. They have software create PDF documents, either from Adobe products like Pagemaker or Framemaker or Ilustrator, or to 'export' files from Microsoft word. But their software is expensive!

They'll let you download the reader for free, but to -create- PDFs you have to spend some serious money.

Ooops, I stand corrected. Here's a website that says you can create PDFs online for free! See if it works!

Some microsoft products will format their output in a PDF. If yours doesn't, there are some pseudo printers that actually convert the word document to a PDF file, I use PDFcreator.

all those windows sufferers! You have a Mac! It's built-in!

You don't need any extra programs!!!

Inside ANY program choose print from the menu or press command+p.

You get a dialog box with "PDF" in it, it works like a virtual printer, creating the PDF file for you... you can even mail it directly from that dialog!
