fixed. They are from different litters. They never met until a year ago. Now they sleep together, lick each others face and clean each other. They chase each other too. Do they like each other like boyfriend and girlfriend.

My cats do that too...they are always making a mess with their water bowl. They play in for some reason. All I do is clean it up.

Sometimes cats like to play with water. I have a water dish that won't tip, but has an opening at the bottom to make it easier to pick up; the cat puts in a paw and pulls on it, making the water slosh a little. Apparently this is really fun, watching the water move in the bowl.
So get a bowl that won't tip; there are lots of them.
If your cats are both fixed, they are just friends, not like boyfriend and girlfriend.

They might like each other like boyfriend and girlfriend. Just because they are fixed does not mean they will not have sex. I had two fixed cats that had sex all the time. Whoever said fixed cats do not have sex just has not been around much.

My cats like to drink out of water dishes that are not theirs. So the trick I use, is to leave a little saucer of water here and there.

Two of my cats (male and female) used to hang out together none stop and would bath eachother and sleep in the same cat bed. I considered them boyfriend and girilfriend just because they were always together but then they randomly stopped doing that one day and stayed separate.
I don't think animals relate to being in relationships together, they are more just pack animals and hang out with eachother like a family.
As for the water bowl, get a heavier stainless steel bowl that cannot tip easily. They even make ones that suction to the ground so they cannot easily slide or be tipped over. My old puppy loved getting in water so much that he'd roll over his water bowl and knock it over constantly- that was always a mess to clean up- I got the suction bowl and he never did it again, then he moved to the bathtub to play in the water (much better than coming home to water all over the kitchen floor like a slip n' slide).
Also, many pet stores sell little fountains for cats. My mom uses this for hers because they prefer clean running water like from the sink.

Forget the boyfriend/girlfriend, they've been fixed so there's no sex in any of it. They're FRIENDS, that's all. You've got two cats who are good buddies.

Get yourself a non-spill water dish. Some cats like to play in water and will spill the bowl. A bowl that's heavier or wider at the bottom than the top can't be tipped over.

I have a cat the likes to clean her feet after she uses the litter box. Once she does that, she wants clean water and will start knocking over her water bowl because she wants fresh water.

Is it a Maine Coon? None of my different cats have achieved this, yet all my significant Coons have subsequently knocked over their water bowls. There are diffeferent theories as to why they do it. i do no longer think of that's a cry for interest until eventually you supply your cat interest (unfavourable or useful) whilst he knocks over the dish. Mine do it even whilst i'm no longer domicile. maximum cats seem to like to play with water, so possibly that's a spin-off from that. My cats drink from a water-bowl that sits in a particular holder. it style of feels to cut back how plenty they'd fairly circulate the bowl around. this is no longer a hundred% fool-evidence, so I fairly have a dish towel below the bowl to seize any spilled water. this mixture provides me little or no hassle with mopping up water. additionally, i've got moved their nutrients bowl to a seperate region, so as that the nutrients does not get moist whilst they play with the water or knock over the bowl.

Dude, your cat isn't dumb at all. She's bored out of her head, OR she loves getting whatever reaction you give her when it happens. Hey, I have a cat that will stare me straight in the eye as he slowly and very deliberately pushes my coffee cup over the edge of the desk. As the previous poster said, get a non-spill dish (at Petsmart or some other pet supply place, or you could just use a shallow cast-iron (very heavy) bowl if you can find one). And while you're at it, get her some safe toys--fake furry mice, etc. She's NOT dumb. She's telling you she's bored.

That is just too, too funny. What a silly brat cat. It sounds pretty cute. Thanks for the laugh!

In response to the original question, cats sometimes just like to play in water and look for ways to be naughty. A more stable bowl might help, though they could still splash around in it with their paws.

Some cats prefer very fresh water, that might be your problem, you might make them very happy by turning a sink on to a trickle and letting them drink. If they are at all like my cats they will spend hours drinking this way, and love it.
