Ok, the other day at the range, the safety officer comes up to me and asks me,
" Ok, we know that 7.62x61 is also known as 30-06, and that 7.62x51 is also known as .308, 7.62x25 is often called Tokarev ammo, what is another name for the 7.62x39 ammo?"

I told him I've always heard it called 7.62x39 and didn't know if had another name, Some folks call 7.62x54r Russian 30 cal, but I've never heard of 7.62x39 being called anything other than that.

How about ya'll? Heard anything different from what i have?

I suppose you could call it the Soviet M43, but that seems overly argumentative. And what happened to the other 2mm on your 30-06? Get frisky with your trimming?

Years ago, I heard of it being called the 7,62x39USSR or 7,62x39R.S.(for Russian short), but I haven't heard those for quite some time.
