My little brother, age 3, left his grandfather's house on Martha's Vineyard, crossed a busy street, and walked about .5 miles down the sidewalk until stopped by somebody who called the police. Is this normal for a child? He is adopted from Guatemala, but that was when he was a tiny baby. We live in Vermont. We found him after searching the entire house, yard, neighbors yard, asked the neighbors, checked our beach, went down the driveway, saw the PD and went to find him talking to a cop.

He went into the bathroom to go pee before we left for the beach. We were in the other room waiting for him. He never showed up.

Oh, and it was .5 as in 1/2 miles.

There really is nothing to WORRY about. I live in VT as well and lets face is, Martha's Vineyard is far prettier and more exciting for a little kid than most of small vermont towns/cities. It's a new place for him and he is learning about different environments. He is also in a stage right now where he is testing out different people to see how far he can get with everyone--what one person might allow him and another not, etc. You shouldn't be worried, just have everyone keep an eye out and talk to him--he will definitely understand you and your concern if you talk to him about the situation.

Yes, it is normal.I have never been adopted and am all there mentally and did the same thing when I was about 2 or 3. At that age children have to have an eye on them 26/8 hehe
They will slip away in a heartbeat!

as quickly as we do not have a central authority, do no longer human beings bypass off course and all and sundry would be attempting to locate a pacesetter. this is a similar in our non secular existence and this is the reason we are pronounced as sheeps. as quickly as we do not have mothers and dads, do no longer we bypass the incorrect way and we are unware of the hazards to hand? like the babies devoid of mothers and dads. Why do they do drugs and smoke even however they have been warned that it may kill them? we are sheeps or maybe however that's complicated to think of that we are behaving like sheeps, we do and in choose of a shepherd.

Uhmm, i'm sorry but shouldnt the parents be WATCHING the child? No wonder kids now-a-days get kidnapped or go missing, its because the parents dont keep an eye on them!

I'd say that is fairly normal for a 3-year-old, so better keep an eye on him!

It's normal for little kids to wander off, that's why they need constant supervision. Where were the adults? My advice is they need to watch the kid!
