i just bought a baby crib used and it is missing one steel dowel pin. the dowel pin is a solid steel circular shaped rod. it connects the bed together. any help would be appreciated. thanks for your help.

That is a bit large in my experience, but start by calling the nearest large hardware stores and ask if they have an assortment of steel dowel pins. Many have trays of assorted parts that allow them to keep small quantities of large numbers of parts on hand. You might follow that with calls to knock down furniture places. Take one of the other pins with you.
In last resort, look at www.mscdirect.com which is a supplier of machine parts and look under steel dowel pins. You will have to have exact size. Don't know about minimum order, but they have warehouses in major cities in USA besides shipping from web site.

Just use a 3/8 in. bolt. Cut or grind off the head if you need to.
