ophthalmologists sell glasses too! so if you're going to blame your OD for ripping you off, you're going to have to include the MD's in there as well.
uhohspaghettioh is completely misinformed. i was going to use more insulting words than that, but i have chosen not to in a public forum like this. to put it mildly, he/she has absolutely no idea what they are talking about.
"An optometrist has optical training with very little medical training"
thats an interesting statement, seeing as how about 7/8 of my training was medical. optometrists are DOCTORS, ya know. its a doctorate profession.
"Believe it or not in some states an optometrist, without an MD, can perform eye surgery. Even though they can't prescribe any medications."
optometrists is EVERY SINGLE STATE can and do Rx medications. ALL 50 STATES. you dont have any idea what you're talking about.
"Oklahoma had a big thing about wanting to ban anyone who is not a surgeon from performing surgery. The optometrists were the biggest lobby against it. That was about five years ago. I don't know how it turned out."
well i'll tell you how it turned out: THE OPTOMETRISTS WON and they still provide surgical procedures. why not? a dentist does some surgery...a podiatrist does some surgery... you have no idea what you're talking about.

I get my eye exams and glasses at Wal-Mart. I got an excellent examination and my frames cost me $70.00. I have had great comments on the looks of my glasses. I can certainly afford to spend much more but I don't feel like I have to have designer frames. I have had them in the past and you don't see any better with $400 frames. I'm sticking with Wal-Mart. Optometrist are small business owners and that is how they make their money by encouraging patients to purchase the more expensive frames.

I can provide for you simply a few tips however I recommend to give a look to the technique that i posted above...for illustration you can take more sustenance that holds vitamin A, for example, carrots may help to naturally improve your vision. We can likewise dependably do exercises. There are exercises, for example, rolling your eyeball to form an undetectable square that are constantly recommended by the doctors to improve one's vision. I don't think about rapidly as there is no quick approach to reach one's objective.
Vegetarians can help to improve one's vision. I accept it in light of the fact that I am a vegetarian and my eye short-sightedness power remains the same without any increase after around 2 years. The doctor was stunned in light of the fact that teenagers at my years will normally have a most increase since we are continually staring at the TV, playing computers furthermore reading. I don't know whether it is completely true or not yet it does influence a bit on the result.
At any rate i propose to check the connection that i posted :) It worked for me

First off i think you are referring to the Optician, the Optometrist is the one who is going to prescribe your glasses and the optician is the one who does the sale. As far as the $400 frames, go to some place like wal-mart where some nice frames can be found for under $130.....

An opthamologist is a medical doctor (MD) who specializes in eye health. An optometrist has optical training with very little medical training.
Believe it or not in some states an optometrist, without an MD, can perform eye surgery. Even though they can't prescribe any medications. Oklahoma had a big thing about wanting to ban anyone who is not a surgeon from performing surgery. The optometrists were the biggest lobby against it. That was about five years ago. I don't know how it turned out.

I suggest you get more information about the condition of your eyes. Never make a purchase of that nature unless you have a list of information, reasons, medical documentation and a contract of sale right in front of your face. Make sure that you actually need the frames, and be sure to read all the fine print. If there's someone that you don't understand, be sure to find out what it means before signing.

We are hearing the health care is becoming more and more costly in the United States and here in India the incoming foreigners for various medical treatments and surgeries is galloping as per the government statistics, which they call as "medical tourism" ! The best of optometrics is available so cheap and so also the cost for for the power glasses and the fees for all related services, in India! You can come to India as tourist to see and enjoy its beauty coupled with a package for health care as now been offered by the tour operators! My optometrist service charge is just USD 20 and the finest specs cost is just USD 40!
I heard that a dental surgery in the USA cost around USD 4000, which can be finished in the most expensive and excellent dental polyclinic in just USD 250 only! So, its better to plan a visit to India for a two weeks tour package with a medical round up for all needed services, which may likely to cost less than USD 2000 only!

$400 frames are not going to make you see better. You'll look great though! Go see another optometrist if you are not satisfied
