its probably posessed. but as long as it doesnt try to drive you off of a bridge, you should embrace its special qualities. :)

there is a solenoid under the hood the thing other than the battery that is about the same size as a half a can of soda it has 2 or 3 bolts sticking out of it and if you put a screwdriver over the bolts and it will start or if a piece of metal hits them check for burn marks on the bolts

Just curious, is it equiped with a remote starter? The only other thing could be a short in the wiring in the steering column possibly.

starter short or switch key one or the other id check the starter first cause its easyier to get at
