My mother constantly worries and gets sad that her 4 children do not get married (we are in our beginning 40s.) All of her friends' children have gotten married or divorced and she feels sad when she goes to weddings or will NOT hear of weddings or talk of engagements unless it's her own. Do all mothers worry like this?

Okay... I'm getting that this is about grandbabies?
The 40s is kind of old for any girls to be making babies... too many risks.
The boys would have to marry girls that are younger.

All of her worrying has become a self-fulfilling prophesy.
I would say that she needs to quit pushing and quiet down... all she has managed to do so far is push everyone the opposite direction of what she wants. She needs to move towards acceptance.

I personally know several families where the kids' upbringing was so bad and dysfuntional that NONE of the kids bothered to have kids.

Truth is, there are over 6 billion people on the earth, and not everyone feels the need to breed. People have very fulfilling lives without marriage and babies.
