Do number #1. Whatever gives your child more of your time, attention and effort is the right choice every time. I work for a school district for just those reasons you outline in number one. My teacher friends do too, but they bring work home all the time and it takes a great deal of physical and mental effort for them. So very hard with a little baby!! Give your child your all in all, 10000% of you and you will be rewarded hugely as they get older.

I would say 1, though that doesn't mean that 2 will make you a bad mother, there are plenty of mothers who are never home at all, at least 2 still gives you time daily and all summer. However I personally plan to do type 1 for my job. It may depend on the child's age and on the father's schedule too bc he may be able to be with your child while your a little busy.

1.

The more time I can be there for my kids the better.

After I had my first baby, I had the ideal job. I worked in reception at a health clinic, and I could take my daughter to work with me. Whenever she was hungry or tired, she could have a breastfeed and go to sleep with me while I did some typing or other reception/admin tasks. When she was awake and alert, any one of the 80 staff would come by and take a five minute break to play with her, talk to her, give her a cuddle etc. She was excellent executive stress relief lol...and was immensely well socialised. Everyone looked out for her, and she grew into such a happy, confident, well rounded kid...I believe it's all due to her being able to be with me 100% of the time, and getting the benefit of good socialisation with a wide range of people. I benefited immensely too, by being able to have the peace of mind of being around my child all the time, plus being able to take home a good wage at the end of the day.

I was very productive too, having my child at work with me didn't affect my productivity at all, I was more efficient and completed more work, quicker, than either of the other two admin assistants.

#1 unless financially you couldn't survive. The more time you can spend home and not working (whether you bring it home or leave it at the office) the better - less stress on you and more time with your kids.

That way you can work, make extra $ but be there when your kids are home. They need you. That's important.
:)
Good luck!
