Most people call a flower shop and have flowers or even a live plant sent to the funeral home or wherever the viewing will be held. Then the flowers are either placed on the grave after burial or live flowers/plants may be taken home with the parents or someone of their choosing. When we attended a funeral we didn't have time to send flowers to a few years ago, we put money in a sympathy card and wrote that it was in lieu of flowers and we hoped it would help in some small way. I would say that you would have to know that the people would not be offended by your giving them money. We were well acquainted with them and it was ok. If you do give this way, just make certain that they or someone responsible KNOWS that there is money in the card as it can be lost in all the activity. It is hard to keep up with nonessentials when you have lost someone.

I don't think taking flowers to the funeral is a common thing and what you see normally are arrangements that were sent ahead of time. Personally I might make a donation to a charity possibly one that was connected to the child in some way. At a later date when some healing has taken place you can give the parents a card and the charity info.

You send flowers to the funeral home ahead of time or take food to the house before the funeral or the day of. There will probably be a lot of people gathered. Helps to have extra food on hand.

my advice....don't take flowers.... they just die in a few days and don't take a live plant either, unless the couple already has houseplants that they care for. Maybe get a ceramic figurine (angel) with little fake flowers...that would be a great rememberance to have around the house
if they are having at get together at the house after the funeral...take a food item....that's the way we do it down south

No, you do not take flowers to a funeral. You have them sent either to the funeral home or to their home. To the funeral you bring your presence and support for their loss.

You don't have to take anything but yourself. If you want to give flowers, the florist usually delivers them. Just going and being there in their time of grief will be the greatest gift that you can give to your friends.
