It's because mothers can do multitasking. Mothers can be our friendly Doctor, patient Mentor, excellent Budget and Account Officer, fair and just Disciplinarian, etc.. etc.. Mothers do their best to find solutions whenever there are problems, can come up with answers to questions of the children, schoolwork, etc. Mothers have basic instinct. They can sense if we are lying, or something is bothering us, everything actually. Mothers also know when to listen to their children and what makes their children happy. Mothers know how to keep the pain so that her family can draw strength from her. She can be that tough though she's broken inside. That makes mothers superwoman. i should know because i am a mother too..

Being a mother, I have used that saying. My children asked me questions about everything and for some reason, I knew most of the answers. The ones I did not know we looked up the answer and then we both knew. Giving your children your views about most matters and situations as you see it gives them examples of understanding, verbal skills, and generally validates that your parent knows more than you do. But it comes a point that the child learns that mom and dad are not that wise about everything and the child has to decide whether to honor their parent for what they do know or convict them for what they don't know. Good luck with your choice.

What she's saying is that she knows that child, that little person, in and out in every detail. We know our children better than they know themselves. We know how they think, what they'll do in any given situation and when they'll do it. We know their strengths and their weaknesses and we pay great attention to every single detail about them to update our information constantly.
The love a Mother has for a child spares no detail; we know everything because we care with everything that we are for that little person. We love them more than our own lives and our own selves.
If you have the chance to have a child at some point it will all make perfect sense to you!.

It is impossible for Mothers to know everything. If parenting wasn't so hard; Mom wouldn't be reading all of those "parenting books and magazines".
I'm a mother and I DO NOT know everything.

I think what that saying means is we know everything about our kids, we know when they are lying, hurt or sick. Obviously we don't really know everything, just everything about our kids.

I know. Just because they're older than us that doesn't make them The Oracle or anything.

They don't know everything, but don't tell the kids. They'll figure it out soon enough.
