It helps to start at the physical level. Let your muscles relax and "let go" first. This is easier than letting go of trauma, thought and emotions. Physical relaxation is extremely helpful in meditation. You sit very still or lie down and "scan" your whole body. You start with the crown of your head and say to yourself "relaxed," and feel it relaxed, continue with each part of your body down to your toes. You could spend from 5 to 20 minutes on this. Then once you're able to relax your body, try to still your mind. Focus deeply on the sensations of breath wherever you feel it most, in your abdomen or nostrils. Try going do different meditation classes and see what technique works best for you or explore different meditation tapes.

Letting go takes a lot of practice. You must put intention behind it often and when you feel yourself going back and trying to control, let go again, then again and again. It will get easier.
Best wishes~

It's a simple saying that means you can not control everything and what you can't, if you believe in God, he'll take care of those things for you. You just have to trust that everything will work out for the better and hold on until it does! I have a great email that was sent to me but it is too long to repeat here. Have faith Honey! Trust me, I have had a traumatic life also but God has always sustained me because I believe He will. Don't get me wrong, I have doubts and a lot of time it's hard to let go and let God but He does come through, and not in our time frame sometimes, but He does, if you just trust that He will!
I am a huge control freak but sometimes it is just too much so I let go and let God and usually when I do that, things work out!
Peace to you!

You are doing yourself good just by asking for help. To meditate,,,try this: sit somewhere comfortable and quiet. Let yourself relax. Breathe deeply and slowly and listen to the sound of your breath. I say this, repeating it over and leaving off the last word each time: Be Still And Know That I Am GOD. say it until you are only saying one word,,,"be". If your mind starts to wander, start the phrase over again until you are only hearing the sound of your breath and the sounds of the phrase.
At this point, ask your higher power to take over your life. Give up and give in. Tell your higher power that you surrender and MEAN IT. Then move on with your day and do everything as if it were a prayer. Be good to yourself and to others. Don't feel sorry for yourself. We make our own happiness. Remember, we have a hand in everything that goes on in our life wether we want to admit it or not. Good Luck and bless your heart.

Think about all the things you have been through. Some of them, I'm sure, you thought you'd never make it through. Well, you're looking back on those things now because you did make it through. When you think about it, you made it through it ALL. So you should have learned by now that you will ALWAYS make it through. So why are you worried and trying to control and manipulate your way through life? Life will work out if instead you learn to pray and believe. Because God will do anything that you believe in Him for. Knowing this causes you not to worry when troubles rise, like they always do. Meditation (Breathing) done right, can teach to you let go. Give it a real try and see.

When you let go and let God, you give up your control which the basis to most control issues that affect your life. Trust in the fact that " you get what you need." Undoubtedly you have thrown your ear towards music. Listen, don't talk. Think don't talk. Feel your heart and soul work together. That is the point that you meditate. Now you have let go.

Meditation is not the right thing to do it's passive what we do is active, you heave pent up memories and frustrations and emotions and meditation will just make it worse, it will just bring everything to the surface, not good especially if your alone.
I consider it the boogyman in my mind trying to control my life, you have to learn to sort those emotions from negatives to positives and tell the boogyman to go away I'm better than you, you can't control me. This is my life not yours. I just recently started to learn how to do that myself and I've made great progress so I'm there for you if you need it.

Have you ever asked Christ into your life? That would be the first thing to do. Then just talk to Him about the problems. Read the Bible, especially the New Testament and Psalms. Try to find a good church. Ask others to pray for you. I'll pray for you.

I remember a story a pastor once told....
I once knew a man that worried about everything! He worried about finances, even though he was rich. He worried about his home even though he had a nice home and security. He worried about whales and air and EVERYTHING! He was miserable!
One day I saw him and he was HAPPY! he was smiling and had spring in his step and was laughing!! There was a man following him that looked sad and miserable. I asked the man I knew what had happened that he was so happy? He told me that he hired the man following to worry FOR him. That freed him up to be happy and truly live his life.
The saying "Let go and let God" means to give all your worries to Him and let God worry about things. He is really the only One that can really DO anything about lifes problems anyway.
What sort of things are too small to give to God to worry about? Think about this TRUE story. There was an elderly woman in the med-west that asked God what to wear to church one sunny, Sunday morning in a drought affected area. She was given a feeling to take and umbrella with her, even though it had not rained in several months and it was sunny that morning. The church prayed for rain to end the drought. She was the ONLY person to go home dry that day!
Give it ALL to God and let Him worry about everything!
Mat 21:22 And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.
Phi 4:6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
Jam 5:16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

A different way to phrase it would be
--"To TRUST your concerns to God.
--Let him handle the outcome.
--Admit that your concerns are too big for you to handle.
--Seek help by prayer / talking to God just as if her were a person sitting there in the room with you.
--Believe that Jesus Christ is real, that he loves you, and that he will forgive you when you ask.
--Christian Meditation means to PONDER, CONCENTRATE ON, MENTALLY AND EMOTIONALLY CHEW ON, TO READ OVER AND OVER, TO THINK ABOUT, TO REALIZE THE BENEFITS OF WHAT YOU ARE READING TO YOUR OWN LIFE - HOW IT CAN CHANGE YOU FOR GOOD. TO ENTHUSE YOU, TO CALM YOU, TO GIVE MEANING.
He is capable of showing you his direction for your life,
and he is willing to carry your load of care. Trust.

You have to understand that people go through traumatic things, life is tough and you're not alone.
That is the first step to letting go, you're not alone.
