I'm a Christian. I believe it's true.
Not all Christians are afraid of the facts of science. Only fundamentalists.

I'M A christian-i know the Universe is expanding--the reason why--well there are many theories--the words Big Bang--is a catch phrase up out for the general public like UFO--most people know generally what it means but has no idea what it is-i personally--this week lean toward the malty-universe-theory--and when-two of the universes touch---wow that would make a big bang- i really have no choice but to believe in a GOD--till an Atheist-comes up with and explanation for everything

Some Christians believe in the big bang theory and some don't. Most atheists probably believe in the big bang but probably not all. There are other theories about the beginning of the present universe. However, the big bang is the most widely accepted and it has the most proofs (such as the background radiation found throughout the universe) and nothing yet to disprove it. But like God, one can't ultimately prove or disprove it and one must decide (after study and contemplation) for him or her self about it.

I'm a Christian, and I believe the Big Bang happened. Only a small --but extremely vocal and well-organized -- minority of Christians believe in so-called creationism.
I doubt if all atheists believe anything. Just like with Christians, or any other group, you can't generalize like that.
By the way, the previews of The Big Bang Theory look pretty good. Gonna watch?

There are several versions of the big-bang theory...
One says that the universe expands and retracts all the time (over billions and billions of years)... Like a heart beat: where matters is pushed out and later, sucked back in.
One says that there are many points at which matter expands and retracts. So there would be many small-bangs throughout the universe. And these would expand and retract on their own.
Some people accept the first one, others accept the second one, others accept different versions of the theory.
There is a lot of evidence that prooves each version... but there is data that makes you question each version. It depends on how you take the evidence.
Remeber that non of us were there. And, I don't know about you, but i'm no quantum physicist (lol). And the universe is so big! In space, there are things we see and things we don't see. Plus there are things happening that we understand, and things we don't understand.
For the most part, however, everyone i know (except really old people, and super fundamentalist christians) accept the big-bang (or some version of the theory) as the most plausable explination of how the universe began.

I don't know how many non-Christians do not believe it, but check out the articles at the links below:
(The first article below is a scientific critique of the Big Bang Theory. It is part 1 of 3 articles. It may be a bit technical for some, but it was designed to discuss the subject on a scientific level, and even to be printed out and given to science teachers and others in that field.)
My version of the Big Bang theory is God said it and BANG it instantly happened!

This theory of the evolution of the Universe is accepted by most the world's scientists. This has nothing to do with religion unless you personally believe the teachings that are gleaned from the Christian and Judaic bibles that discount this theory. Some people who are also Christians, Jews, and Muslims, not to leave out Buddhists, and other thoughtful members of humanity, believe in the scientific fact of the "big bang", and yet do not discount God's ultimate role in our existence. You do not have to be an atheist, and I venture to say you can not be one to believe in such an enormous event to believe in this substantiated theory. Something started this whole process and I believe it was God. She was simply passing to us the knowledge to develop this theory. A path we are as yet too underdeveloped to appreciate.

Expecting the writer of Genesis to be able to explain accurately the nature of the creation of the world in scientific terms is a fool's venture. It's like expecting a man from the deepest part of untouched African jungle to explain to you how your computer works. He couldn't do it, because he doesn't understand it. He'd most likely describe it in terms of magic or spirits or gods. Does that mean your computer does not work or that it somehow is now a magical object? Of course not.
God said, let there be light and there was light- when there is an explosion, more often than not there's a release of light and heat. LIGHT and heat. The big bang? Let there be light?
Are you getting the picture? Just because the writer of Genesis chose primitive magical terms to describe the creation of the world of the universe does not void a scientific explanation.

LOL. It was a Christian monk/scientist who came up with the big bang theory. Lots of christians accept the big bang. It is actually morons who don't accept the big bang. The fact that most of those morons happen to be christians should be counted as nothing more than an odd coincidence.

As an atheist, I can only answer for myself but I accept that the Big-Bang theory has so much going for it and infinitely more than a story about a spirit in the sky.
I suspect that most if not all atheists accept the theory as the best possible answer that we have right now.

many atheists believe in evolution, but most evolutionists won't debate the creationists anymore because it so easy to show that evolutuion is not true. answersingenesis.com.....thecreationnetwork.com.....halos.com.....there has also been a lot of fraud committed by the evolutionists, usually to obtain study grants. A jawbone in Nebraska was buiilt into an entire human and they called it Nebraska man(a missing link in the evolution chart). 40 years later they discovered it came from the jawbone of a pig..ooops!! That has happened several times. Meanwhile more and more findings in science and archeology are proving the bible is correct. In Isaiah 40 it says the earth is round. IN Jonah it says there are mountains at the bottom of the ocean. How could they know that back then? God revealed that to them. Digs in the mideast are finding artifacts that mention the same people and places mentioned in the bible.
