I sing because I'm happy
I sing because I'm free
His eye is on the sparrow
And I know He watches me

I discovered a hidden talent for singing a few years ago. I have always enjoyed singing, and many times have been told to stop (usually by my family when I was much younger)... because of that- I rarely sang in front of people, but a few years ago I was singing in our church and one of the worship leaders came up to me and suggested I join the band because I sing so well.
I was nervous as all get out - but I did it, and haven't stopped since.

I sing because I must. It's like breathing to me. I must get it out when there is a song in my head. It's hard to describe, but it's a drive....

Quella! This Sunday I get to sing a harmony for an entire song.... I've never done that before I'm so excited! The rest of the worship I sing the leads for - but the call to worship is a harmony... very excited!

((((quella)))))

I sing to amuse my two younger grandchildren. I make up silly songs about them. I praise the Lord, and I really get down if I am in the car alone! My little secret is playing the harmonica with old blues songs and a few Johnny Cash tunes after everyone is in bed. (This is an act of kindness, not modesty. I just made up my mind to play something about two years ago, and it was the first thing that popped in my mind.)

Your question assumes I sing. Not everyone sings.
If you mean, why do humans sing? That is a mystery that no one knows, precisely. It does involve the beauty of the human voice, the intuitive meaning of rhythm and tones (up and down the scales, etc.)--all wedded with feeling. It's like saying, why do people find a sunset beautiful or enjoy nature? Those things, like life itself, and the meaning we derive from it, are deep and mysterious--and like so much around us--we do not really understand.

I enjoy singing a lot.I have quite a good voice but most importantly I sing with feelings and I guess that's why I love singing so much.

Well... I don't sing, it's sort of some croaking noise that I'd like to THINK is singing, but it's fun when I'm alone and not able to make others nauseous, so I do it.

Because I bliss out on it when I do.

"Above the tumult and the strife,
I hear the music ringing;
It sounds an echo in my soul
How can I keep from singing?"
