I believe that if they were saved, then they are in heaven. However, if they were not saved, then they are in hell. It doesn't matter what the circumstances of their death was (whether it had been from the terrorists or not), if you are not a believer and have sincerely confessed your sins to God and asked forgiveness for being a sinner, then you will go to hell because your name has not written in the book of life.

if they were saved they are with Jesus in heaven. Jesus paid a very high price to save us- how could we ever lose that salvation- and even if we could, how could God who showed us mercy, send those innocent people to hell, if they had been bought with His Shed blood. I do not believe however, that if they were undecided in their faith, or if they died not believing in Jesus that they are in heaven. This will probably get comments, but it is truth- that is why scripture says, "TODAY IS THE DAY OF SALVATION". None of us know the day that will be our last on this earth. All of those innocent victims did not have a clue when they woke up that morning that they would be killed by these suicide terrorists. That is why we cannot put off our salvation.
I still pray for those family members that lost loved ones, so do not think because of the way I answered this question, I don't care- the person who asked this question wanted to hear what I thought, so I spoke the truth.

It's very sad to think about. I heard a man interviewed a few years ago, a minister who served as a chaplain and counselor to 9/11 survivors. He said he was asked that question many times, if those who jumped had committed suicide and couldn't get into heaven. He said he told them that these people had jumped trying to save their own lives. But he obviously didn't believe this himself.
Judaism is the tradition in which I was raised and the one I understand best, though I wouldn't say I was really a believer today. But Judaism is a very practical religion, very pragmatic. There are lots of things you're not supposed to eat, but if kosher food is simply not available, you can eat whatever they give you. If you're STARVING you may eat whatever you can find, and more power to you! Yes, suicide is nominally illegal but certainly the circumstances are taken into account.
A lot of Christians like to think God is really strict with rules. But I don't think he is. Every case is different. I think we are all judged based on our whole lives, not one act committed under such extreme pressure. There is probably no more desperate situation one can face than being stuck in a burning building, a hundred stories above the ground, and having to choose between jumping and burning to death. I don't think God expected these people to stay and slowly burn to death.

Well, I don't believe in hell or purgatory. I believe what the Bible says, that the dead are conscious of nothing at all (Ecclesiastes 9:4-6). I also don't believe that suicide is the unforgivable sin under any circumstances. Everybody who died on 9/11/01 - including the terrorists - will be judged according to their heart condition. God will have the final word on who gets everlasting life and who gets everlasting cutting off (ceasing to exist). Judgment day isn't here yet, so we'll just have to sit tight and see what God says.

I do not know of any Bible verse that says that a person who commits suicide will go to hell. It is a belief, based, I think, on "biblical reasoning" of sorts. Where those people wound up after dying is up to God, and there is no way of knowing for sure, this side of the next life. Do I think God takes into account circumstances leading to a suicide? Of course. And, we have very limited information about heaven or hell or purgatory (if there is one). I feel that this life is a purgatory of sorts, by the way.

I don't believe in Purgatory. I am not a Catholic.
Suicide is not a sin in certain cases, it could be argued that Jesus committed suicide, he knew he would die, and he could easily stop it, and he even said that no one can take his life, but that he lays it down himself and would take it up again.
Suicide does not negate salvation even if used for a wrong reason. Jesus' sacrifice covers ALL sin.
Also, any of the people that died that had accepted Christ went to heaven and the others didn't.

Suicide is NOT the Unpardonable Sin.
The Unpardonable Sin is Hebrews 6: 4,5,6 and you have to be Saved and Then Some, to even to be ABLE to Commit it.
The only people in Hell that I know of, are the ones the Bible Tells us about.
GOD can Expand Time. Saul fell off of his Horse and was Born-Again befor he hit the Ground.
GOD can Expand Time and give People Another Chance to Believe in Jesus---and HE Will Too!
He wants ALL of us Saved ( Spiritman Recreated, Born-Again).
I don't doubt if All of those People who had to Jump aren't in Heaven right now.
Later:
I agree with the person up above that they were Murdered.
Suicide is something you have to think about befor you do it.
Usually a long time thinking too.

When someone is ripped from life beyond their control like the victims having to jump from the towers. This is not held against them because evil was brought upon them without warning. I feel people who die in such a horrible way are instantly taken into heaven to be with God. Good question!
I hope to be able to answer other in the future.

Kelly; The only way a person can go to Heaven is if they asked Jesus into their heart. We don't know how many were saved. But, we will know when we get to Heaven. By that time though we will not care about what happened to us here on earth, cause we will be in Glory.

I find it interesting that some people who would not hesitate to condemn those who kill themselves to avoid a slow agonizing death from, say, cancer have no problem with those who killed themselves to avoid burning to death in the Trade Center buildings, even though the person with cancer would suffer months (if not years) of agony, while the jumpers would have suffered for only minutes if they'd burned to death.
By the way, I believe that we own our bodies, and our lives, and, therefore, have the right to end our lives for any reason, if we so choose. I'm merely pointing out what I see as hypocracy.
