Sex burns more calories than any other activity that releases natural physiological stimulants such as laughing or smiling. Not only is it vigorous in its physicality but it also keeps your penile function active and less prone to atrophy. I, as a surgeon and medical doctor, would advise to have sex as much as possible to keep your homoerotic senses both physiologically and mentally, as keen as possible. The more erotic and wilder the positions the better.

Let me to try answering this question.
As I learned from reading articles I still remember that experts had found out that having sex creates physiological changes that bring many medical benefits such as relieving anxiety and reducing stress, masking pain, helping to have a sleep. It had also proved to enhance fitness, boost immune systems, minimize heart attacks (as it gives the heart an aerobic workout), and can possibly promote longevity of life.
The beneficial side effects can be attributed to the neurotransmitters released by the brain before, during and after sex namely: oxytocin, endorphins, and serotonins.
Oxytocin promotes emotional bonding. While the endorphins ease the perception of pain, relieve stress, and strengthen immune systems. The serotonins on the other hand foster the feeling of satiety, which also relieves stress and and keeps the person relaxed.
Sex also has good effects on mental and psychological health. Definitely, sex brings the couple closer.
Well, the above statements I believe would only be achieved when sex is done willingly or shall we say...in a way of how it should be.

MD/Blood specialist answer. Cathy has it right and "spyder on his neck" guy is close, but blood platelets moving about is not a major concern with sex. Burns some calories. Fun exercise. I don't personally know about relieving female cramps, but I have heard this is true from the better sex. For guys I think it enables us to think about something else for awhile. Maybe half an hour anyway. (But I'm old). Sex is absolutely normal and healthy. A few precautions are wise these days depending on the situation. Married couples who are exclusive are fairly safe, but these seem to be a minority now.

besides getting a nice workout, that's about it. sex can be dangerous after major surgery, as this can cause blood and platelets to go from the already injured area to other places and thus compromise your healing time. this is especially true after heart surgery. i would ask your doctor if you've had any major surgery recently and you are concerned if having sex will compromise your well-being.
