Not the same. For one thing, you can never know exactly what grade pot you're getting, you have no idea exactly what substance in the pot is creating the anti-depressant effect and you have no idea how much of that substance you're getting per hit.
With an anti-depressant, you at least know you're getting a substance that's been tested for that specific condition. You know exactly how much of the substance you're getting, and you have doctors and pharmacists to talk to in order to properly titrate the dose so it's most effective for you.
You're comparing rag weed to apples.

Depends on your bodies chemistry and the quality of the drug. Depending on my mood or quality, pot either made me happy OR more depressed. You're actually rolling the dice when you try it. Anti-depressants are designed to make you feel better. So I guess the answer is NO!

I have never smoked pot but I am around someone who does every day. No, I take an antidepressant to function. It does not make me high--whatever that feels like.

in my opinion, kinda. well, actually... i'm not sure. on the surface, maybe, but i don't know much about anti-depressants and how they really work. by the way, pot isn't going to make you feel better.

Not at all. One acts by improving an already existing neurological process (think selective serotinin reuptake inhibitors and the way they improve the amount of neurotransmitter available,) the other inhibits a process(THC inhibits the neurons from firing properly.)

Anti-depressants don't slow your reflexes, distort your visual perception, or crap up your lungs with smoke, so I would have to say no.
