So sad! If I were you, i would try to take it to the vet. since the vet can be pretty expensive, you can just try to clean the cut. The ears are extremely sensitive, so i dont know how much you can do by yourself, but you could try to get a damp cloth and gently dab at it to try to get some of the germs away. Hope i helped, and good luck!

Your rabbit has ear mites. Ear mites look like scabs down inside the ear. You gave a really good description of what ear mites look like. I doubt that I could have given a better description.

The best way to get rid of ear mites is to suffocate them.

The most common method (although not the best) to get rid of them is so apply mineral oil in the ear with a Q-tip. The mineral oil coats the ear mites in oil and they suffocate and die. However I don't recommend this method since you could possibly knock some of the ear mites loose with the Q-tip and down into the inner ear canal.

A better method, although it sounds more unconventional is to use WD-40. WD-40 is a sprayable oil. Put the red spray tube on the sprayer. Then cover the rabbit's eyes with one hand by putting your hand over it's head. Then place the red tube down into the ear and spray 2-3 short half second sprays into each ear. The spray covers the mites without the problem of knocking them loose. Once you have sprayed inside the ears. Release the rabbit's head and allow the rabbit to shake the ear mites out. This is one of the safest methods of curing ear mites. You may need to repeat the treatment once or twice. Check the ears every 2-3 days for any further signs of mights until they are all gone. The WD-40 won't hurt your rabbit. Just make sure that you get none of it into the rabbit's eyes.

You may also want to have your rabbit treated for fur mites with an injection of ivermectin since ear mites are often related to a rabbit also having fur mites.

You may also want to watch the bedding that you use for your rabbit and if you allow the rabbit to run around on the ground. The bedding and the ground can be sources of a rabbit getting mites or other parasites.

The best thing to do is to call the vet and speak to someone there. If there is something that you can do at home they will tell you otherwise they may suggest you bring in your rabbit to see the vet. The nurse at my vet has helped me twice by giving me advise on what i can do at home for my cat and it only cost me a phonecall!
