Not all religion is about serving God. Some religions have no god whatever.

Money is involved in almost any organization as an organization requires resources which require money. Buildings, publications, service and such require funds.

Some religions and ministries are more about money, but that's not all of them.

It costs money to do things, right? Maintain a building, vehicles and paying any full time staff. Then, if there is outreach ministry, such as a soup kitchen, Thanksgiving baskets, etc., the money has to come from somewhere.

Funny, no one complains about other non-profits getting in a ton of money and giving more than ample salaries to their staffs. You have one church that asks people to support it and it's minsitries, and people have a cow.

Why do people so smugly ask what is really an ignorant question?

I think your question is more a statement than a question, but I will answer it anyway.
Because religion is populated with people, and people are corruptible, especially by power. Religion is a power of sorts. But money is power too, of course. Power corrupts, and those corrupted want more. With money I can build large buildings, and these give the appearance of success. But those buildings must be paid for, and the more money you have the more you can do.
I have no problem with people who want to give, freely, and without coercion. I have a problem with all kinds of manipulations, including guilt trips, to get people to give more and more--including when that accumulated giving is targeted for luxurious retirements for the clergy.
I'm not saying that any or all religions are bad. But the way men and women work them often is.

there are a lot of people who claim they are christian. underlining word claim. The bible tells you of one church not millions. Jesus says in the bible on top of this rock I build my church. singular not plural. to answer your questions yes a lot of other churches do seem to be about money, that is why you have to be care full, that you follow God's word in the bible and make sure your at the right church. The money is used to pay for the building you sit in, brethren that may need help. that have been sick and not able to work. yes and we don't ask for it back either. I would suggest you go to www.maclandrdchurchofchrist.com

Because, you are doing so out of respect. That's why people scoff at you when you don't fork over money when the collection plate comes around. So much for it not being expected, eh?

And yes, Serving god. Much like slaves serve their master. It's the "expected" portion that pisses me off about these followers.

where would i live without money? we are apart of a capitalist society i doubt we have a choice whether money be our motivation or ambition. so, we give tithes to our Lord because that is the least we can do for our father. i'd rather give $5 a week to my local church rather than lottery or wine. i don't mind the fact that we offer money to help the community and foundation... where I live... MY neighbors.

God is not into religion but relationship

that's the difference between religion and spirituality.

religion is man's attempt to have a relationship with God.

with spirituality it's the opposite. God established a relationship with man.
