I agree with IRG... go to your local tobacco shop...if you are wanting to get into smoking cigars for the reason of taste, then determine what you like. Some are heavier than others. Some are spicy and other mellow or mild in aromatics. Would suggest your request a variety pack. My favorite place to get cigars is Thompson Cigar Company, the link is below. They have sampler kits, and a good one for you would be the Elite 8 Sampler. All different ring sizes and types, and comes in a nice stainless case, only $30 .

There are times when I like a full bodied cigar, there are time when I like a mild cigar. So I have smoked everything from Arturo Fuente to Cohiba to Macanudo. But my favorite, I guess my "go to" cirgar is Baccarat.

Baccarat is a mild to medium bodies cigar with a hint of sweetness to the pallet. They come in a variety of sizes. I prefer the Baccarat Churchill.

My main supplier is JR Tobacco in North Carolina. I have look at a number of different outlets, and I have yet to find one that has better prices, even considering shipping charges. The Baccarat Churchill retails for about $100.00 for a box of 25, JR sells a box of 25 for about $60.00. If you don't want to by a box for 25, JR offers 5 packs of several Baccarats. You can get a 5 pack of the Churchills for $12.00, which works out to the same price per cigar.

I would recommend that you stay with hand made cigars. They are of a much higher quality that machine mades, like Dutch Masters, Phillies, or Swisher Sweets.

JR also has some great on-line resources (they call it JR University) to help you learn the specifics about cigars. How they are made, what the component parts are, even how to properly light one.

if you have a good cigar shop in town go and ask them. I would recommend to you something with a light colored exterior. nothing longer than 4in. Naturals is a good smooth one. A Fuente is another. both cost around 5-6 bucks each.

The Dominican Republic makes the best, legal cigars. Dip it in cognac or whiskey for a nice flavor.

What are your tastes in food? Do you adore powerful spices? Do you prefer subtle mixes of flavors? What do you like to drink? Think of all of that--then head to a well-stocked tobacconist and ask. Tell him what your palate is used to. I got steered right to the stronger vitelos once I told him that I prefer super-spicy foods and hard liquor straight-up.
