Insanity is the heavy fate that descends upon those who do not follow the promptings of their own soul and who have strayed far into the land of distance and that of darkness.The symptoms are a life spent in untold evil and destruction such as was lived by Adolf Hitler who was a very deeply evil man who cared for nobody at all.

Insane is strictly a legal term, not a clinical term, as it is very unscientific and subjective in its nature. Since insanity in of itself is not a mental disorder, (and no one mental disorder automatically warrants the label "insane"), there are no symptoms of insanity, per se. You are simply considered insane if, for whatever reason, your views of reality differ so much from the norm that you fail to function in ordinary society based solely on the basis of your perceptions, and that you are inherently unaware of the descrepancy.

This is a good question. Standards of insanity include hallucinations (involving any sense or combination of senses), obsessions so powerful that they pervade every aspect of a person's life, and supporting Bush.

It's hard to tell, really. There is no specific definition for insanity in the DSM-IV
