I am a Medical Assistant at a pediatrics office. Children's weight depend on a lot of factors. Such as family genetics, if your child has other illnesses etc. Most children around three to four yrs of age plateau on their weight around this time. children usually get taller, but will maintain the same weight for about a yr or so, but if this is a real concern for you the best thing is to set up a appt. with your pediatrician to discuss weight management.

I used to think that my daughter was underweight for her height until I talked to the doctor. He assured me that a child should be around 10 lbs for every year of their life, that is a 3 y/o should be around 30 or 40 lbs depending of his/her height. This is AVERAGE! Not many children fit into what is average at this age. My daughter is now 4, going to be 5 in December and currently weighs 47 lbs and is 43 inches tall. She is pretty tall for her age. I have a friend whose daughter is the EXACT same age as mine and she is 3 inches shorter and nearly 10 lbs less than her. My friend is not even 5 feet tall and the child's father is 5' 6". It depends on genetics!!! Don't worry as long as your little boy is happy, healthy and energetic! If he was not receiving enough nutrition you would know it!!!

It really depends. I am guessing anywhere from 35 to 40 lbs. If he is eating everyday, energetic, and all around looking healthy then don't worry about him. If you think there maybe a problem then ask a doctor. Also make sure you are giving him vitamins everyday that way you can be sure to cover all your bases as far as vitamin wise.

take it up with your doctor. It's really not about pounds; it depends on his height, bone structure, waist measurement. My 6 year old twin boys weigh about 42 lbs. My friend's son is 6 months younger, a few inches teller and he weighs 55 lbs. He's not fat at all, just very solid! I know my kids have been in the 38-42lbs range for the last couple of years. As long as he's healthy, I wouldn't worry about it.

I would say around 35 - 40 lbs. I think at my daughters 4 yr old check up she was 37lbs.. Her 5 yr old checkup which was just last week she was 47lbs. She is a good weight.. although she is tall. In size 6, 6x clothes.

There is no perfect weight, its dependent on other factors.
Things like hight and genes play a great roll in how much a child weighs.
As long as he's not losing weight and he's continuing to grow theres nothing to worry about.

During the toddler stages, it isn't so much about how much the scale says, but more about how his growth has progressed over a period of time..what percentiles is he in for height and weight? What have his typical percentiles been since birth? As long as he has stayed a regular, steady growth path, I'm sure he is fine! :) You can Google search a few different weight and height charts to ease your mind :)

My son is that age, and hasn't gained much weight either. He was a fat baby, and is starting to grow into his weight. He weights about 37 pounds, and his doctor says he's perfectly healthy.

I wouldn't be concerned, you could ask the doctor what his/her opinion is though.
I can't tell you what a good weight is because frankly it is more related to height than age at that point.
But looking good (good skin, good hair, bright eyes) and acting healthy are pretty much the best indicators.
