They told on "Nascar Now" today that Jr will be driving the #88 with Amp and Mt Dew as sponsor next year for Hendricks. My guess is that Yates will bring the #28 back out for either Travis or David

Here is the story about Jr and the #88

The announcement is tomorrow (Sept 19th) so let's just wait until then. I'd laugh when the number comes out and there is no 3 or 8 in it at all.

And yes, Kvapil is driving the 88 for Yates next year as per a press release from RYR.

I think alot of the rumors gotr started due to the fact that JR motorsports runs the 88 in the Busch series and some newpaper report (who probably don't pay much attention to racing anyways) are running with that concept.

Travis Kvapil will drive the RYR car that was numbered 88 this year. Since he has no history with that number and Robert Yates had a falling out with Dale Jarret when he went to MWR the 88 was made available to Jr who happens to already have a patent on the number in his design.

The 28 is much more important to RYR so I believe they will run the 28 and 38 next year.

Junior will be running the 88. Official word comes this Wednesday the 19th.

Probably not gonna be the 8, 08, 38 or the 88....

Read somewhere abt 2 weeks ago, that Hendrick put in a copyright for the 28 and then today, there's this on nascar.com

"And with that, he left reporters and fans to wait until Wednesday, when the final domino in the long line of them set in motion May 10 will finally fall. The sponsor and car number Earnhardt will use next season with Hendrick Motorsports will be introduced in Dallas, also the site of a national bottler convention for Pepsi-Cola. It's the perfect place to unveil what's expected to be a No. 81 car backed by the soft drink company."

soo.... we'll know real soon...

Its funny that the Charlotte Observer has ran this story about them using the 88 next year and now everyone is on board with it. Lets see what happens when he announces the new number, which according to every other source is going to be the 81.

I heard that on nascar now the other night...heck things change so often in nascar, I give up.. I heard the interview with Jr today on MRN, he says people are going to have to wait till wed.. But then I heard Robert yates was going to sell the 88, I can't understand why they would as that number should have some meaning to the team the 88 at yates did win a championship.. The media just needs to wait like the rest of us...I don't care what his number is I'm a fan forever..

Give it a few weeks and we will find out the truth. Speculation leads to ANY open number in the CUP garage truthfully. Just give it time, and you will find out with the rest of us.
