Is it because we have all had to defend our beliefs, our values at one time or another? Is this the one thing we all have in common? Is it possible to approach eachother from that understanding that we all defend what is ours and not seek to smash or take away what belongs to another? I have a hard time remembering this. Do you?

Defensiveness is simply protection of the ego. Our clinging to the concept that we think our ideas and knowledge is the only knowledge or answers. Ego often is mistaken for a thing that makes us happy and we cling to it dearly.

I am only defensive of my children. I love my husband, I would do anything he asked me to. I don`t believe in fighting over what religion is the "right" religion, I believe in believing. If that is wrong, it is my problem no one else`s, I have never harmed anyone, or cheated anyone, I have nothing to be ashamed of or afraid of when I die.

I do not recall ever being accused of defensiveness. Offensive, yes, many times.
