Start putting together your own personnal medical record. Get copies of all report and documents that led you to this point. Ensure you maintain this record by adding copies of everything that goes in your service medical record. Continue to maintain this record when you get back in the military. When you get out/retire or even if you can't get back in, these documents will come into play when filing with the VA.

Whe you say you "went home from basic" I assume you were discharged for a disqualifying medical condition which existed prior to entry. If that is the case, and your re-enlistment code was RE-4, you can't re-enlist. If you "went home" because you refused surgery and your were given an administrative discharge for that, you can't re-enlist.
