Sorry hon to hard to tell you what it could be at all. It could be just a small fatty tumor or a cyst. It could be nothing at all. The only person to tell you exactly what it is is your vet.
To tell if it were cancer your vet would have to do a biopsy to have it sent out to be diagnosed. It's the only way to tell if it's cancer.

Since none of us can see first hand, this lump, we can only make guesses. First, no one can tell you it is or it isn't cancer, only your Vet will be able to do that after a biopsy or tests.
Is the lump soft to the touch or hard? Does it move around or is it attached solid? Is there any draining from it?
Here are some things it can be: Insect bite, cyst, fatty tumor (benign), cancerous tumor, BB, and there are probably several other things to cause a single lump. Obviously, some are nothing to worry about, but some will need Vet treatment, some can be deadly. So....I apologize for having to tell you that the dog must be seen by your Vet.

I also have a golden retriever who I love dearly. I don't want to sound rude or smart-alek cause i'm not trying to be, but if it were my dog I would have a vet run some tests to see what is going on. It could be something as simple as a scratch or bug bite that got infected, or it could be serious. I would definitely have it vet checked. Good Luck! I truly hope he is ok.

properly sound like a classic golden domestic dog for his age to me! a million. He probably won't raise his leg until eventually over a 300 and sixty 5 days previous. My domestic dog did no longer until eventually he became 13 months previous. 2. domestic dogs want their sleep! he remains starting to be if he's energetic while he performs then he desires his sleep too. ordinary! 3. Golden by ability of nature are no longer ferocious canines! That a trait of their breed! he would be conserving by ability of barking yet he isn't sufficiently previous yet, he remains very lots a domestic dog! Golden's are very people orientated and extremely people friendly. in case you needed a guard canine you picked the incorrect breed! 4. His is laying off his coat now to get his person coat in and it quite is fall so he's likewise getting his iciness coat coming in too! ordinary! you have an extremely ordinary Golden domestic dog and as far as i can make certain there quite no longer something incorrect with him in any respect. appreciate him!

Our golden retriever (11 years old) has various lumps on him. The vet says they are just fatty deposits. It's best to take him to the vet though and ask.

My Golden Labrador gets these fatty tumors every now and then. I always get them checked out, but the vet says there nothing to worry about. Just get it checked out, hopefully it's harmless.
It's very common for older dogs to get fatty tumors. Sometimes they have to be removed if they restrict movement, or internal structures.

could be a tumor, could be a bug bite, could be cancer, try to make some adjustment in your budget and take him to the vet for a check up, it is really hard to say what it may be without being able to see or touch it

It could be a tumor, it could be a bug bite, it could be one of many things. The only way to know for sure is to have it looked at by your vet.

as dogs age, some dogs are more prone to fatty cysts (especially labs & goldens). they feel a little like it would be a tumor & it definately freaked me out the first time i found one on one of my dogs. i would just keep an eye on it to see if it gets any bigger....if it does get bigger or the texture starts to change, i would then take your dog to the vet.

yes it sounds as if it could be a cyst but i would keep on eye on it and if it gets bigger or changes in any way take him to the vets also if it starts to effect his appetite and his water intake take him. has he been anywhere that he could have been bitten without you knowing if he has it could be his own body dealing with the toxins see if it comes to a head within a couple of days if not then you will have to take him.
good luck
