An interesting point. Humans are supposedly different from everything else because of our free-will. Which could mean that Lucifer was set up. If only humans have free-will than he had no choice to covet God's throne or become the creature of evil he's said to be. If he's the Father of Lies, than perhaps he was created that way.

How can you tell who is from God and who is from Satan?
"Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world." 1 John 4:1-6
"Jesus said to them, "If God were your Father, you would love me, for I came from God and now am here. I have not come on my own; but he sent me. Why is my language not clear to you? Because you are unable to hear what I say. You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father's desire. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies." John 8:42-44
Satan is just an angel that wants to be like God. Isaiah 14:12-23 Talks about how Satan became prideful at heart and wanted to be like God and how Satan was cast out of heaven and thrown to earth.
"He replied, "I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven." Luke 10:18
"Who is the liar? It is the man who denies that Jesus is the Christ. Such a man is the antichrist—he denies the Father and the Son". 1 John 2:22
And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. It is not surprising, then, if his servants masquerade as servants of righteousness. Their end will be what their actions deserve. 2 Corinthians 11:13-15
For Christ there is Antichrist
For true prophets there are false prophets
For true apostles there are false apostles
For sheep there are wolves in sheep's clothing
For the Holy Spirit and holy angels there are unclean spirits

Look at it carefully...I believe the bible says Satan is the father of all lies. John 8:44. He is not a lie, but he is the father of them
"44You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father's desire. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies."
Yes, Satan lies. He lies to you everyday, He tells you...you can't make it through life, or that you are a failure. You believing that he can't lie is one of his lies. Satan is the king of deception! Do not be fooled by his trickery!

Ashla- answered your question better that I can, Wonderful. She is right- the bible says time and time again, that Satan is the Father of lies, and the author of confusion. God threw Satan from heaven and his demons when Satan chose to be "like God". Satan lied first to Eve, about what God had said about eating the fruit in the garden. By the way,Eve did not have to listen but she did. Satan also has gotten you in his vise. He has convinced you that he is not a liar- that is so what Satan does to keep people from the truth.

Just like the die-hard religious fanatics take everything in their bibles to heart and adopt them in their every day lives? Satan lies, god doesn't - People should open their eyes and minds about what to believe, not have everything handed to them out of simplicity.
If there is a Satan, then satan can lie. The same is also true of if there is a god, then god can lie. No one is perfect, no matter what elevated position of "power" we put them.
For Sal D -
You could say "He isn't that dumb, or is he..." but then, I could ask the same thing about the whole of Human existence.

Satan is known as "The father of all lies". It was Satan who spoke the very first lie. I don't know where you got the idea that angels don't have free will. All of God's creations who have a spirit and are capable of loving God consciously have a free will. Angels are one of God's creations.
What makes angels different is that they have seen God, and are wholely spirit beings. They are still capable of sinning against God, but being who and what they are, they cannot be forgiven for willful disobedience to God.

Passage John 8:44:
44You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father's desire. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.
Loud and clear for all to read.

Joh 8:43 Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word.
Joh 8:44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
Joh 8:45 And because I tell you the truth, ye believe me not.
if angels dont have free will then they cannot sin.
Notice 2 Peter 2:4 says, “For if God did not spare the angels who sinned, but cast them down to hell...” The word for “hell” here, though, is the Greek tartaroo and simply denotes a spiritual prison. Since their rebellion, the angels have effectively been imprisÂoned within the confines of the earth and its surrounding space.

I believe that EVERY creature that GOD creates that has intelligence, does have free will. How could Satan have loved the LORD at some time and then bitterly hate HIM today? Didn't Satan change his mind? We too can change our minds like Satan and his angels.
GOD bless

Of course satan can lie. And angels do indeed have free will.
Get some help with this, so you'll know the truth, when you see it.
