obviously, some of the other posters dont have a clue as to what a "homecoming" actually is, contrary to believe it is not a formal occasion, it's not the prom.
"homecoming" is a big game, and yes sometimes a dance follows, along with a parade etc. but it is more of a "welcome home" for past graduates and students to come together and
reminisce about the past, kind of like an informal "reunion".

Homecoming is supposed to be when previous graduates come back to the school, look it over and attend a football game. However, that is "inconvenient" so graduates hold their reunions in the summer and homecoming is a contest to elect a queen of homecoming. Sometimes there is a king, other times the captain of the football escorts the queen. Depends on the school. The queen and her court (losers in the competition) are introduced at the game and there is an after game dance which is often the primary dress up event of the fall (like senior prom in the Spring.)

Alfonso, it sounds like you already know what Homecoming is! It's a football game, usually followed by a dance. You could get a date; it's like the prom. Or, go stag & be a stud. The school sells Homecoming dance tickets & you'll need a tux or suit. Ask an older student, or read about Homecoming online. Girls don't ask what Homecoming is because they read "Seventeen". Technically, school alumni (graduates) attend the football game, so you'll see lots of ancient people in their forties and stuff. I recommend you watch Sixteen Candles, like, 10 times.

Our homecoming game is tonight, and a lot of the alumni show up for it as a reunion.
One of the people was homecoming queen in 1954.
Everyone has a lot of fun and goes to the game to see if the home town will win.
Usually you try to pick a team you know you can beat, but lately that isn't even a close issue.
Goooooooooo Redskins (Not Washington ones)
In the afternoon they had a parade with all the queen candidates and attendants, the class floats, bands pagentry and now it's almost time for kick off. Gotts ta run.

i do no longer even comprehend if we had a dance. We purely had a huge assembly with a Pixar subject, and the comprehensive time human beings have been booing and then cheering each time somebody introduced out a sea coast ball (however the ******* learners have been given all 5 taken away.) somebody spilled Monster on something significant and the sound equipment stopped working so we've been left with a collection of jerks in Pixar costumes dancing around with the cheerleaders to the accompaniment of the senior instructions' hurled insults. whilst the critical finally stepped in to end the disaster, some million/5 of the Senior type yelled "**** you" and comparable issues. Oh, and there advance right into a soccer game. curiously. i do no longer think of even the soccer gamers went.

Homecoming is a celebration of being back in school... First they will have a football game and usually the next day is to celebrate it's victory at the dance.

Some schools desinate homecoming as the second to last home game, the last home game being senior night. It is a great way to enjoy the game friday night, and go to a dance saturday night, my sister is a freshman, she goes to her first homecoming dance tomorrow night.
