Vicks Vapor Rub or Tea tree oil. The vicks will help with the pain but the tto will help drain it faster. Both generally work within 24-48 hours.

Ichthamol ointment will help bring it to a head and allow it to drain which will make it feel better. DO NOT SQUEEZE IT!!!! This will cause it to spread!!!!! Your boil could very possibly be a staph infection and is extremely contagious!!!! I have been dealing with a "boil gone mad" for the last two months. I personally don't like to take antibiotics because of the side effects, but I had to because mine spread like wildfire. Best antibiotic-- Bactrim DS. If you take the medicine, make sure you take all that is given to you because if you stop taking the antibiotics just because your boil is gone, it could come back stronger and be harder to get rid of. I haven't seen a boil or even heard much about them in over 25 years, and now suddenly I know of 7 other people who have them. Please, just go to the doctor. I tried every home remedy possible and nothing else works!!! Good Luck!!!

Most boils run their course within 4 to 10 days. For most people, self-care by applying a warm compress or soaking the boil in warm water can help alleviate the pain and hasten draining of the pus (colloquially referred to as "bringing the boil to a head"). Once the boil drains, the area should be washed with antibacterial soap and bandaged well.
For recurring cases, sufferers may benefit from diet supplements of Vitamin A and E.
In serious cases, prescription oral antibiotics such as dicloxacillin (Dynapen) or cephalexin (Keflex), or topical antibiotics, are commonly used. For patients allergic to penicillin-based drugs, erythromycin (E-base, Erycin) may also be used.
However, some boils are caused by a super bug known as Community-Associated Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus, or CA-MRSA. Bactrim or other sulfa drugs must be prescribed relatively soon after boil has started to form. MRSA tends to increase the speed of growth of the infection.
Magnesium sulfate paste applied to the affected area can prevent the growth of bacteria and reduce boils by absorbing pus and drying up the lesion.
Additionally boils have been known to resolve spontaneously when covered with Halloumi cheese. This must first be dried, then a small amount of lemon juice is added to make a thickened paste, and left uncovered on the boil until swelling has gone down, allowing the pus to reinfuse into the surrounding tissue. This homeopathic remedy has been used for hundreds of centuries by the ancient Greeks.

The doctor had told my parents to grate a raw potato onto cheese cloth and apply. I don't remember how many times per day or for what length of time to keep it on, my brother used to get these things on his neck or face, legs all the time. It will bring the thing to a head which will loosen and the stuff will come out. I noticed someone said a heat pack or wash rag soaked in hot as you can stand it water, that will work too.

Use ichthammol. It can usually be found at any pharmacy. It is an over the counter medicine. It works really good for boils. It smells really bad and is black, so make sure you get some bandaids to put over it. This medicine brings the puss and black thing out within a few days.

If it's small use triple antibiotic ointment. It's sold in a tube and looks like Vaseline, you only need a dab. If it gets big and really sore, go to the doctor, that can be a dangerous staff infection.

Hot compresses, do not pop it. They sell an over the counter medication called boilease. You can use that, but hot compresses work best. You could also use a hot tea bag to bring it to a head.
