So we are keeping Iraq as an American colony that happens to be sitting on top of lots of oil? We would still be occupying invaders that are there to exploit their resources and project power through out the region by means of military force. This is very much what the Roman legions did. What makes you believe we will will not be still fighting a guerilla war even decades later. Is there a moral justification for staying there. I can't be 100 percent sure but what will probably happen is the US will gradually abandon Iraq, keep enough forces there to stop whole sale genocide but let them have the civil war they want so much, watch Iraq divide into 3 countries and then we will go home.

Truly I believe we should get out of Iraq. The military went in there four years ago and ruined a beautiful country. Alot of people think of Iraq to be a country of trouble, disruption, and chaos. It hasn't always been like that. When the United States Military went into Iraq disruption occured. How would the people of America feel if Iran came and invaded us just as America did with Iraq. Men, women, children, and pour defenseless babies of Iraq have died leaving all their loved ones behind just over a stupid war. Christians are being prosecuted and tortured just beacause they have chosen to believe in a religion other than Islam. The Iraqi population has gone down. And for those of you who think Iraqi's are all terrorists, or people that just want to hurt other people think again. It's wrong to think that when you really don't know. Not all people of Iraq are like that, and infact most of them just want to live a peacefull life with their loved ones. Everyday someone dies. Could you emagine what the people of Iraq face today. Terror, it's wrong and just awful. My whole family originated from Iraq. They tell stories of a once beautiful civilization, ruined because of a war. The Iraqi people have elected a government. I know that they can do it. I have faith for the people of Iraq and their government!
If not totally get out of there then at least lower the number of armies in Iraq.
The next time you think of how your life is be glad that you don't have to face what the people of Iraq face today.
I'm proud to call Iraq my home country.!

The war in Iraq will go on for a LONG time.....
It's really becoming a war between the Sunis and the Shias, and America is stuck in the middle, with Iran pushing hard to make their influence felt...
We can't stay there forever.. the sooner we leave, the better..
But there is no doubt, that once the U.S. leaves, "ALL HELL WILL BREAK LOOSE", and Iran will move in...
Iran will have no concerns, and will murder and pillage like it's ever been done before... Blood will flow like never before...
The U.S. government knows this, and they are trying hard to stay there as long as possible, to stabilize the situation, and give credibility to the elected government....
But this will NOT work.. there are too many enemies of America there, and they have the press on their side...
This war cannot be won.. We need to get out soon, and the real war needs to be allowed to take it's own course..
No matter what.. America will be blamed for the coming bloodshed, no matter how it occurs.
Wait for it.

You haven't been keeping up with current events very well. The level of violence in Iraq is unbelievable, our troops can't keep a lid on it and the cost of this war is going to bankrupt the country if we continue it for much longer. Iraq is in the middle of a civil war and nothing we can do now is going to change that, if we get involved it will only get more of our troops killed and the end result, whatever it if, will be the same no matter what we do. It would be much better to get out now while we can do so with minimal loss of American lives than to continue this pointless war.

I am here in Iraq now, and from the improvements I have seen on the US bases that I travel to, I could very easily see us using Iraq and Afghanistan both like we used and are using Germany, and Japan. It is a good thing, regardless of what liberals say to have US forces based around the globe. It gives us forward operating capabilities, and allows US servicemen and women the chance to interact with people from different cultures they wouldn't be able to in America. Once this area stabilizes and can support itself I thing that this would not be too bad of a posting for military members. Also you make a good point, by us having a hard facility here it would discourage the Islamic radicals to an extent, but also keep in mind that it would give them a US target in their own backyard, of course if they are playing tag with permant US forces in the region it does limit the number that can and will target US civilians on our own soil. Keep in mind that we are an all volunteer force and most of us don't want to, but would not hesitate to lay our life down for any American, and for the principles in our constitution. I for one would take a posting here, especially if it could help stabilize this region. The only thing that hasn't been tried to help middle east peace is a permanant posting of US forces here. Who knows, that might just work, but we will never know if we don't try.

After the country is in stable condition Politically, Economically, and Militarily, I would not be surprised if we contracted permanent military bases in the country just as we have with Japan, Germany, Korea, England, and several other nations.
Strategically, it would be very good for us to maintain our presence in the region, not to mention Iraq could potentially be a close ally of the U.S. just as Britain, Japan, Germany and other countries we defeated/liberated militarily have become some of our greatest allies to date. Iraq sits right in the middle of most of the middle eastern countries and I think Iran, Syria and other terrorism sponsoring nations would be a bit more careful in how they behave considering we are sitting right on their doorstep. With the current friction we have been facing regarding Iran and their ambitions to become a nuclear power, Iraq and Afghanistan rest on either side of one of the more powerful Islamic countries. Iran knows a secure and stable Iraq means big trouble if they fail in keeping us from being able to succeed.
I think it is healthy for our country, strategically, to meet Al Qaeda and all other members of organized terror with our strength on the battlefield. Bringing them to battle on our terms means they are having to face the best military in the world as opposed to bringing the fight to us here in our own cities where their main targets are defenseless unsuspecting American citizens.
If we can keep terrorists from being able to find a breeding ground and keep them busy fighting against our strengths, then we win the war. If we pull out of Iraq there will naturally be a power vacuum because if we are not there to fill the void or if Iraq is unsuccessful in filling their own position as a stable form of government, then these terrorists will succeed in finding a new "Afghanistan" in Iraq where they can begin to plan and take the fight to the U.S. and our Allies shores.

First off, when will it ever become stabilized to the point we won't be seen as the enemy ?
Secondly, aren't we enraging "islomo fascists" now by being there?
Thirdly, If we don't have enough troops for this war now how are going to have enough for Iran, Syria, etc.
Tough bind we're in aren't we?

yes, we want our troops home, defending and supporting the homeland, not a middle eastern country. If we want military bases in this country and it's oil revenues that is a different story altogether...

It does no sturdy to ask inner maximum electorate this question. Liberals and democrats will say carry them abode and conservatives and republicans will say end the pastime so they do no longer persist with us right here. the individuals you definitely would desire to ask are the girls and adult males individuals in uniform that are there and scuffling with. some got here abode and volunteered to pass back lower back because of the fact they suspect in what they are doing. understand that that's an all volunteer military. the girls and adult males individuals scuffling with over there would desire to be attentive to that we help them extremely for morale reasons. It irritates me while somebody says they do no longer have confidence interior the conflict yet in no way served an afternoon interior the army, so what provides them the appropriate? You extremely would desire to ask them in the event that they suspect in what they are doing and decide to end the pastime. in case you deliver them abode now, will they be seen by ability of out enemies as being susceptible? Will that's seen as a loss for usa of america by ability of the terroists? i in my opinion have confidence that over ninety% of the troops have confidence of their challenge and in what they are doing and decide to win. they decide to return abode to their friends and kinfolk with their heads held severe with human beings pleased with them and usa of america. there's a reason they are called our scuffling with women and adult males individuals and quitting or giving up isn't probable an selection with them.

Because big cities full of liberals are not worth sacrificing troops over. I almost cry everytime I hear of a soldier being killed, and ask why it couldn't have been a whining Leftist windbag from New York or California instead?
