look at hate crimes, homosexuals are using this law as a chance to get rid of christianity. almost all christian congregations outside of church seem to be harrased and christians imprisoned for their beliefs. you see it often enough in the news. yet no matter what happens to christians people seem not to do anything. why all the hate, if you say that we are wrong why should you care what we do. we are not after all breaking any laws or going outside of our rights. also when christians protest there is always an uproar but when gays do nothing, even when they start to get aggresive all that happens is a quick break up. yet when we have a silent protest we are imprisoned and beaten. sorry i know this is really long.

just to add onto the topic, this was on cnn a couple of weeks ago, so it is not me trying to put people down. also we don't get violent and God hates sin and says homosexuality is a sin. we are just spreading his word. besides, God is willing to forgive all sins so don't say i am putting down others. i am so sick and tired of people who only answer to insult for the points, so unless you have an actual answer that makes sense and isn't you trying to put me down don't answer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First off, if againstwindandtide had done a little research before answering he would have found that a lot of countries do imprison Christians for their beliefs. I guess that is to much to ask of him to actually do some research before answering. God foretold of us being hated by the world. Why does this still surprise people? I look at it as a blessing that we are hated. That just shows that God was right and that we are doing His will. Peace

First, for all those who wonder where Christians are persecuted and imprisoned, in recent history this was happening in China as well as many South American Countries. American Missionaries were either imprisoned or executed along with many of their believers and converts.
Second, any Christian worth their weight would not participate in any form of a hate crime. And the people who are participating in hate crimes and claim themselves to be true believers are so off the mark that it's not even funny. Christ preached love and tolerance. He taught us how to come to know our God through a relationship with him.
And as for Christians being beaten for protesting here in the US, not happening. Actually it's quite the opposite. Statistically speaking, more often groups who are considered the minority (ie: Homosexuals, women lib activist, civil rights, etc) are often imprisoned and beaten. But that hasn't happen in quite awhile either. So, as far as I am concerned it is no worse for a Christian as anyone else except that maybe a majority of right-wingers has unfortunately earned us all the title of conservatist because of their in-your-face beliefs.

I'm sorry, I'm not at all believing that Christians are persecuted. When my gay friends are being forbidden the right to marry because it's "immoral" (a religious argument), science cannot use stem cells to find cures for diseases (because there might be a soul there, another religious argument), and abortion rights are being overturned by state after state (again, backed by religion primarily), then I'd say we are at the mercy of the Conservative CHristian Right in this country.
I'm not desperate to put down Christianity. I'm desperate for them to see that they are not the supreme rulers of this country or the world. I want them to see that there are others on earth who have the right to believe what they wish. The hate I see comes from the religious folk, justified by their religious texts.
Get a clue, my friend... a chef from a previous season of Top Chef was beaten with some of her friends by a group of your "persecuted" Christians.
I detest the "hate crime" laws myself... aren't all crimes "hate" crimes of some sort? Someone hates another person's skin, religion, sexuality, wealth, etc. and commits a crime to do something about it?
But to think that non-Christians are using the hate crime laws to persecute Christians... what a load of brown stuff.

I think you are doing a noble thing by assisting the band, and spreading the love of God in song. The band members needed a bass player. They saw something in you, that sparked their interest. Jesus message was for the unbelievers, because it was the unbelievers who became believers in the end. And anyway, judging by the sincerity of your question, you sound like a pretty cool dude.

Because Satan is alive and well, my friend. Homosexuality is not Satan's enemy.
Againstwindandtide: your remark about Christians not dying for their faith is so ignorant. Christians are tortured and killed every day around the world. Read Fox's Book of Martyrs and you will be stunned.

Non-believers are shamed into heavy guilt by the mere fact that Christians EXIST. They can't handle the fact that there are actually people out here who love God and live accordingly, and who vote for things that they don't want for America, like real VALUES.
Because of that, they do everything they can to bash Christians and Christianity.
They're like children who are afraid their toys are going to be taken from them, only they are adults and much more irrational and dangerous.
EDIT: Just reading the list of hate posted to your question, proves your point, doesn't it. Unbelievers are spiritually blind and don't even recognize their own actions against God's people. We need to pray for them, longer and harder!!
God bless you!

Please cite examples with sources for your assertions. What? Did you think that because you said it and you believe it, therefore it must be true? I don't believe anything you said; prove it! I just love it when the MAJORITY says they are being "persecuted" by the minority! When were Christians imprisoned and beaten? Any evidence?

Prosecuting someone who performed a hate-crime is not an attack on Christianity. If it is, you should find a better faith. Are hate-crimes a 'Christian thing'? If your faith compels you to beat people up, or worse, you belong to a sick faith.

Get rid of christianity? Wow-paranoid delusion! Homosexuals and straight people like myself are trying to get rid of OPPRESSION due to your prejudiced religion-civil marriage has nothing to do with your religion.
What country are you in where christians are jailed for their faith? Link please. If you are a Westboro person or supporter, you are a sick individual.
