...a common ancestor? Humans share about 99.4% of DNA with monkeys, and some even argue that humans are a type of chimpanzee (or chimps a type of human). Humans also share DNA with gorillas, horses, and several other things (if not, all)...although I don't remember the exact numbers. I believe horses were around 80% and gorillas were 90%. Anyway, why would we all share DNA if we weren't connected somehow?

(Also, I'm not a scientist...if there is some scientific explanation behind this, please let me know!)

Gotta love Dr Socks answer - It's soooo simple.

There is enough information capacity in a single human cell to store the Encyclopaedia Britannica, all 30 volumes of it, three or four times over.

There is no known non-intelligent cause that has ever been observed to generate even a small portion of the literally encyclopedic information required for life.

The genetic code is an outcome of elaborate decoding machinery in the ribosome. This decoding machinery is itself encoded in the DNA .
The code can not be translated except by using certain products of its translation. This constitutes a vicious circle.

We share large amounts of DNA with everything on the planet, from rubber tree to roaches.

There is just one model of carbon-based life here. We all have a universal common ancestor.

Here's a diagram of how it all works. Predictably, it's VERY complex:

Yeah, it's called primordial sludge. Once the basic genome was formed, theres a basic set of DNA saying Skeleton, Brain, Nervous system, 4 Limbs, 2 eyes, Etc. That basic framework is pretty flexible. Nature is impressive

No, a common Creator. If it's not broke, don't fix it, right? Besides, have you looked at the probability of everything evolving into perfectly working order (up to when us humans got a hold of it!), and still working? If one little thing didn't work out right, we could all blow up!

But we haven't, so we must not've evolved.

A watermelon is 98% water, and a cloud is 100% water- are they related? Maybe the similarities in DNA point to a common designer.

I don;t know, could it be that we all came from a common designer?

You know? there is nothing other than theory to suggest otherwise, and the theory of evolution was merely agreed upon by the process of peer review (voting), if voting is the means to establish an idea as fact, by reason of the atheist supported 'peer review' doctrine, the creationists would win hands down.

I thank you atheists in advance for your prototypical thumbs down votes that make you 'feel' that by 'consensus' you must be right.

Just remember, your warm fuzzy feeling of superiority is just as......as the fundies.... har de har har!

from primordial ooze.

No

A half billion years ago, or whatever it was, dinosaurs of various type were fully developed and functional animals.

There were fully developed functional beings of one type or another from almost the very beginning of life history.

These fully functional and living creatures did not have billions and billions of years to evolve. and diversify and become niched.

But each of these had their own niche - flora and fauna alike had its place.

Evolution does not really work. Think about it!

We also share most of the DNA with trees and shrubs.

The more logical conclusion is that we all have the same very efficient and practical CREATOR, who made all things from the same basic "stuff".
