hey, what is this if I enlist in the Navy. Go for it. anything you want to do , eventually you can. The skills taught in the Navy schools are very sought after in the civilian world,.
and if you stay in, go to OCS. Stay in forever enlisted and be a warrent officer. any job you can think of, they have. Talk to a recruter, watch the movies about different rates, and go for it.Its an adventure with quality people.
Good luck.
P.S. > ARMY? whats that?

Officers must have a 4 year degree and be a US Ctizen. there are several paths to Commissioning.
1: apply to OCS with 4 year degree in hand.
2: apply to STA-21( get a 4 year degree in three years or less on the Navy's dime) and attending ROTC
3: attend a college with a NROTC unit and drill with them, with or without a scholarship.
4: Enlist, then work your way up
4a: Warrant Officer: must be an E7
b: LDO: E6 and eligible to take the Chief's Exam/board.
1 and 2 can take several applications before acceptance. 4 can take years as it's usually at least ten years to make E6 or E7, depending on rating.

The Army offers the Green to Gold program or you can become a Warrant Officer. You go get into Warrant school while an E-4 (I think).
You would have to check with the recruiter for actual requirements because I can't remember the specifics.

It depends on how fast you can knockout college credits. You need at least 60 semester credits to try to get into OCS (after which you'll be a 2nd Lieutenant), and to complete your degree within a few years after that. You need your Bachelors before you can be promoted to Captain. I'm not sure if there really is a set amount of time (or rank) you need to be enlisted before you can switch over. Contact a recruiter, or better yet a local ROTC office at your local college. They should be able to fill you in.

Yes, there are lots of programs to becoming an officer. I have known quite a few people that have went this rout.
20 year Navy retired
Edit:
Didn't see the part about how long. After you get to your duty station, you can start working in it, with tuition assistance you can start taking collage courses. So even if you decide to get out, you can get out with a degree.

While the chances are incredibly slim, you could try to get an appointment to one of the service academies. It is very rare but it could happen.
The better way is ROTC through a college. Or OCS. But with OCS, you have to either already have a degree or have by the time the course is over.
Then again there IS the extremely rare possibility of a battle field commission. But you have to be Billy Bad *** for that.
Good to you with what ever you decide.
